Hi guys, Stoke fan in peace here,

Just having a look around on here, like i normaly do with opposition message boards, and im suprised to see the comments about Stoke City. Usually i find teams ripping Stoke apart for how they play, the manager, players, fans or whatever else they can moan about, but its good to see a lot of you giving us credit.

Stoke City is not a good place to be now if you are a home fan. A lot of fans are now wanting to see a change in management after increasing frustration by the fans of how we play and the lack of excitement we are getting. At the start of the season everyone was expecting big changes with the arrival of Charlie Adam especially, although things havent worked out with him being played behind the target man instead of playing deep and being a playmaker. Also with Michael Owen (sorry about the former Liverpool players) joining, we were hopeful of finally bringing in a poacher who could play off the top man and grap 10-15 goals a season providing he is fit....never happened and is currently occupying thd 'bench warmer' position.

We were on a fantastic 10 game unbeaten run, but then its all gone down hill. Can't seem to create chances, can't seem to score but more importantly, can't seem to get points. The season really can't end quick enough if you're a Stoke fan and relegation is a serious problem looming in the back of our minds.

Onto Everton, and i have always enjoyed watching Everton. Always found them as a family club and enjoyed the banter whenever you come down to the Brit (providing you dont win). Seems like you have had a good season and the win against Man City really showed the quality your team has and the potential to challenge teams for the top 4. Anichibe playing with form, Osman finally getting the praise he deserves, Baines playing like Baines does and Fellaini being the powerhouse in the middle, especially when he is headbutting our players, but lets not mention that ;)

Pulis WILL set up for a draw and should the unlikely scenario of us scoring a goal, it WILL be one goal. Crouch up top on his own really does not work, so we are hoping for a corner, set piece, own goal, ANYTHING! Although i do feel your lads will have too much for us and i am going for a 2-0 Everton because Fellaini and Pienaar arent playing, else it would be more.

Players to look out for would be N'zonzi, Huth and Cameron. N'zonzi has been amazing for us this season and has been everything we have lacked in the middle for years. Wins the ball, and plays short simple passes. I have said all along i can see him fitting in Arsenals team, and he certainly has the ability too. Although his temper is something he needs to controll. Huth will be back from suspension, and boy have we missed him. Plays with passion, and a few elbows aswell, but him and Shawcross have a great partnership and are a great paring. Finally, an unsung hero in Cameron. His natural position is centre-mid, but has played left-back, right-back, centre-mid and behind the striker. But when he is at right-back, i really think he has quality, his tackling really is second-to-none and distribution is good at times. I'm not saying he is Baines, but he is good enough for us.

Sorry for the long post, enjoy the game. A few beers after the game should cure the dispare of defeat :-)

Welcome lid.

You're not one of those "meffy kids hanging round the local garages up to no good," are you ?

Not something I usually do but the Stoke poster above made me think of going on their board to have a look.

Found this. I normally keep a lid on the preview thing but it genuinely made me buzz. Nice one Stoke lids.

I'll be livid when you beat us though.

"Well done whoever the Blue-nosed tvvat is; it would make me envious, if he wasn't just an imitation scouser who just couldn't afford the right coloured shirt."

It's fair game mate. He's probably called Baz, Gaz or Daz and I had a pop at him. Stoke must be in the rare breed of football fans who can laugh at themselves.

Big Andy Wilkinson to score his first goal? It would be mayhem!!
ehjoy the game mate ,andy wilkinson is without doubt the biggest ******** in football , big dead hard skin head who kicks people more than he kicks the ball ,just about sums up stoke city football club

, if it moves kick it , as far as you can

This is exactly the game we don't want to be playing on the back of mauling City. Stoke haven't won away forever, Pulis sets up for the draw etc etc. Wouldn't it be just typical Everton to get a good hiding from them Potters.
With how big a team physically Stoke are and how utterly incapable we have been all season at defending set pieces, I expect Stoke to score...I also expect us to score more than them though, Jelavic for a brace and Baines with a pen, 3-1, just bloody win Everton!!!

Way to go BBC:

Everton midfielders Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar are both suspended.

Defender Phil Jagielka and goalkeeper Tim Howard are in contention for a return after three matches on the sidelines but Tony Hibbert is sidelined with a calf injury.

Stoke defender Robert Huth is available after completing a three-match suspension and he should return to the starting XI to link-up with regular centre-back partner Ryan Shawcross.

Manager Tony Pulis looks set to have a full squad at his disposal.

MATCH PREVIEW

This match brings together two managers who have both really raised unrealistic expectations at their respective clubs. A win for the home manager, you feel, is imperative, whilst three points for the visiting one would be most welcome in their current climate.

Everton begin the day six points off a Champions League place and, like Arsenal just above them, have a game in hand. If you had told David Moyes back in August that would be the case with nine games to go, he would have accepted that scenario instantly.

They are the outsiders to finish in the top four and they do have a tricky run-in, but if Everton were to finish there, as they did eight years ago, then they would again be punching above their weight.

They've been difficult to beat all season, losing only five matches - fewer than Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal. However, they have drawn 12, and have now reached the stage where both home and away they have to go all out for victories.

This is the first of four remaining home games that all look winnable. It's the away trips that could yet decide if the passports are required for European football next season - they have to face Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal, not to mention a Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Stoke quite simply need a change of fortune in a new year that has been anything but happy.

With just one win in 2013, the mood in the Potteries has changed dramatically. They ended 2012 unbeaten in 10, just four points off the top six; they enter this match just four points above fourth-bottom Aston Villa.

The phrase 'be careful what you wish for' is certainly applicable to Stoke though. They have never been in any danger under Tony Pulis, played in a cup final and in Europe and a fifth successive top-flight season isn't under threat.

Pulis will want to change their luck and finish the season on a positive note. They have won just once in 24 attempts on the road while Everton have lost only once in their last 19 at Goodison, so this shouldn't upset too many coupons. But sometimes in the Premier League you just never know.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Everton and Stoke have drawn four of their nine Premier League meetings.
The Toffees have not beaten Stoke since October 2010 - the last two clashes have been 1-1 draws, the two previous results were Stoke victories.
Everton's biggest home win over Stroke was an 8-0 victory - in November 1889.

Everton

They have lost just five league matches this season - the fewest amount of defeats the club has had at this stage of a Premier League season
Against Manchester City last time out, Everton kept only their second clean sheet in their last 14 home league games.
In that same match, Nikica Jelavic scored his first Premier League goal of 2013 - ending a barren run of 838 minutes.

Stoke
The Potters have won just one of their last 11 Premier League matches.
They have scored just six goals in 10 league games in 2013. Overall, they have failed to score in 13 league matches this season - the worst record in the Premier League.
Stoke have drawn 13 league matches this season, the most of any top-flight team (equal with Norwich).

They've been difficult to beat all season, losing only five matches - fewer than Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal. However, they have drawn 12, and have now reached the stage where both home and away they have to go all out for victories.

anything with the phrase 'difficult to beat' in can be dismissed as ignorant. any team that is 'easy to beat' wants to look at the situation carefully...you could spend ninety minutes attacking with no-one at the back and that would make you 'difficult to beat' if you were good at it. its never used about fashionable clubs and clearly way of disguising the fact they haven't been watching us, and can imply we are boring without having to say it.. .the draws have almost all been the result of not taking our chances or letting in soft goals. .can't remember too many calm shut outs from us...we would prob be third if there had been..lazy lazy journos

Pah. Some work to do on my preview accuracy then mate.

From what I can gather Pulis is terribly negative in away games? You'll repeat last year's one nil mate and no mistake.

Possibly the grimmest game of football I have ever witnessed
