they were there for the kill tbh. We managed the game nicely enough until the end but we could have battered them if we’d taken the initiative

Totally understand the frustration with not going for the 2nd goal more and yeah it was a pretty difficult watch, but I think Carlo knew a win tonight could be huge mentally. Stops the rot at home and a rare home clean sheet. It gives belief to the players we can see a game out.

Not at all saying it was anything to write home about but we did what we haven't done recently - win when not playing well.

Quite obviously we've got big improvements to make to be on the front foot more, get more control in the midfield, inject some more pace into our moves. But that is a longer term change in progress and I don't think for one second Carlo isn't aware of all this.

Watching Gomes shepherd it out for a goal kick that ended up as a throw in summed it all up for me.

Thing is, Gomes was good today.

Again, I can't find fault in any performance really - Holgate was very frustrating going forward and Doucoure was a div at the end.

I just feel the game was there to be put to bed much earlier. We gave a crap S'ton team hope and really they should score.

It's all well and good people saying that they would always attack us, but we invited them on by not being positive.

That diamond is crap. I don't get why fans have been crying out for it.

Wasn’t pretty, but it was always about the result tonight. We missed the energy and pressing of Davies back in midfield and the creativity of James further up the pitch.

Work rate was awsome topped off by a class finish MOTM Richy for me.

Richarlison for me, worked incredibly hard and deserved the goal.

Pickford was immense though, his distribution was fantastic and despite missing the one punch came and nailed the next one. Three points thanks to how quick he was off his line too - rushed Vestergaard.

Best thing Gomes did all day was receive that Richarlison punt to the face. Fook that was funny

I agree 6th/7th is the realistic aim.

Im not a style over substance supporter by any stretch but we seem incapable of a comfortable win against bottom half dross these days and we wont always ride our luck defending like Italia 90.

Without doubt further strengthening will be required to push us on.
I believe Carlo is overachieving if he gets Europe with this squad.

Still need to learn how to put away teams when they’re playing poorly. Just takes a lucky deflection or something to bounce and we’re level.

needed win, for 85 minutes we were a lot better than past home games and didn’t give them a sniff. Beat West Brom we go 4th with 12/13 games left and a cup quarter final
