With the exception of Gana and Keane they all looked rusty and / or were trying too hard to make an impression. However, i saw some glimpses of some really nice pass and move football, and once they get to know each others thinking better i reckon we will be well entertained this season. Very impressed with the impact Sandro made, and i think he may well be the best buy of the lot! So i voted for Sandro because once he came on it started to look like we might make space to nick a goal.
Sandro looks good so far, Keane has made a few bad mistakes but has gotten away with them. Gana is only half a player, he wins the ball
quite often, but doesn't have a clue what to do when in posession, get the £7M back from Villa and give it to Barkley to enhance his contract,
Last night was crying out for Barkleys class!

Eh? Gana was one of the best there last night.

Martina for me, a masterclass out there tonight.
Thought he had a decent game, but Baines was the best for me, defended very well, got up and down the pitch like a youngster and put some decent crosses in. But, all in all, not a very inspiring performance from some. Williams, I thought, was very poor and Rooney faded quite badly, but on the bright side DCL played very well and Sandro looked a real class act in his short cameo. BTW I loved the ITV4 coverage with Ossie and the great Kevin Campbell, both did us proud!

I watched the 20 minute highlights on the club site. Just goes to show you what creative editing can do. Everton was made to look like world beaters, but, by all the accounts, we were sluggish and rusty; and not quite game fit. What the highlights DID show is we have to get a lot sharper around their goal. Plenty of nice crosses and runs into the box that we really should have done more with. We are dying for a dominant striker.

...still 1-0 is a positive, and it's another game in the books. With all the new faces, there will be a learning curve. Hopefully it's not too steep.

...nothing like a game of football to dampen the feelgood factor and bring a sense of realism. I've gone for the goalie for making a crucial save even if the linesman got the situation wrong. That save could at least allow us a couple of good away days in the group stages.

It was a pondorous performance and one that is best not being dwelt on. This is now truly Ronald Koeman's team but players need to settle in and the manager has to find the right blend.

Gana is a wrecker mate, his job is to break up attacks and pass the ball to one of ours, which he does 99 times out of a hundred?

Thought DCL looked more of a player than he did last season. Could be a good season for him if he continues to develop.

Klaassen linked up play well. Gana had a decent game.

I know most of us see a different game, But he shouldn't have even been on in the second half, one pass in particular a short back-pass
to Williams, would have been swallowed by any top 4 prem side. I don't think that he is even teachable (If there's such a word).

He is half a player: Does he do what David Batty Did? or Does he do what Bryan Robson Did? Who was the better player?

Gana was doing what he does best but it wasn't until the introduction of Sandro that we stepped up a gear or two. I can see why Ronko wants Iceland in now. More creative options.

I thought he might have gone 3-2-4-1 in the formation tonight but we might need another CD before we can do that.
