I actually think we could and probably will do worse than keep Unsy and Joe (as a duo) until Christmas and see how they do. I know its become a cliche, but Leicester thought of the box and look what happened.

...a key challenge will be managing a transfer kitty in the summer. Unsworth is unproven in respect of that key competency. We need somebody in who can start building.

This, he does a great job with them and we can let that carry on.

Quite.

How many played today All looked at home. To say the least.

The idea of the academy feeding players to a manager like Jose is maybe a bit fanciful, but pretty neat nevertheless.

That would be one awkward conversation to have with Jose

Moshiri - "erm Jose change of plan, we think we will stick with Rhino and Big Joe, your services are no longer required, hey I heard Watford are looking for a manager tho"

Mourinho - "hello? is this April 1st no?, hello?"

Posted this in Barkley thread but thought relevant to the game re: formation and it's affect on certain players:

Difference today was he (Barkley) played as part of a midfield 3 instead of in the hole which means he could receive the ball deeper without having to abandon Lukaku to get it. Having Mirallas and Lennon up with Lukaku meant he was never isolated and looked for more arsd and Barkley can do what he does best which is drive with the ball and try and find some through balls. I think 4-3-3 is miles more appropriate than 4-2-3-1 for our current squad. Teams should always adapt to fit their best players in and we just haven't been doing that. Round pegs went into round holes today.

the match thread's my favourite part of the site...almost like being at the game!

the youngsters all doing very well...Rhino's done good work there.

Before we lose our heads let's remember we're playing a team who have been relegated.

That said... we look so good.

Good performance, but the relief, +ve atmosphere, and playing against a relegated side in a meaningless match made it a lot easier to do so. Like people have said, let's not get too carried away. Good time to give the kids a run out tho.

How Everton is it that we get a promising clutch of youth players bursting on to the scene like this, right at the same time as someone turns up with oodles of cash?

Perfect combination if you ask me! :) :)
