Up against a well organised team.

Tosun is fast running out of time probably has already. Lookman disappointed, still looks like an option coming off the bench against tired legs rather than starting.

Richarlison got man of the match for me, just because the lad must be a right pain in the arse to be up against. And crucial goal. Not too impressed with Digne delivery from dead balls, and at fault for Rondon goal woeful actually this evening!

Lovely save from Pickford and Andre is quality.

Agree mostly mate.

The Tosun thing. It's not the quality of the player. It's more the system we play - he just doesn't suit it.

Richarlison has the pace and skill to ensure that two defenders need to go with him. That opens gaps, either by dragging them wide, dragging them back into midfield or moving in behind. Tosun can't do that, because one man can match him.

Without that space, our creative players were just faced with a black-and-white wall and ultimately we didn't have the spark to get through.

The first time I saw Tosun live was at Goodison against West Brom last January. He was absolutely everything I don't look for in a centre forward. Slow. Weak. No presence. No aerial threat. A second behind all his team mates. I've never understood the signing. I can't believe he was signed.

Well actually I can. It was Walsh and Allardyce.

Remember Stoke away?

We run into out of steam 2nd half but I think we should have had a comfortable lead at half time and if we did we would have seen the game out comfortably. Gomes was outstanding 1st half but tired 2nd half, I don’t think anyone played particularly badly .They came to frustrate and the number of fouls some cynically prevented some good situations,. But it’s within the laws of the game and we must get used to it.

We need someone, anyone, who can accurately fire a ball somewhere within the bounds of that thing called a goalmouth, measuring 7.32m by 2.44m. It would appear our current players are under the assumption the "m" in that measurement is miles!

Said from day ones he’s a bad crab

Frustrating game, but there are positives to be taken. Gomes is an outstanding footballer who seems to keep growing into his role. If we keep him he’s going to be as important to this team as Arteta was to the mid 2000s team. Richarlison is as good as we’ve had in a long while. We dominated a game and couldn’t find a way through but that’s just going to happen now and again. Hopefully less often as we continue. Better crossing is needed (could Baines have been an option?) and Tosun is, unfortunately, woeful. Lookman seems to have more pace than he knows what to do with, leaving the ball behind him or losing it.
In another game we’d have gone ahead and then stretched them out.
