I just wonder whether Martinez will start Kone and have Lukaku on the bench tonight. It might well be he's drawn the conclusion on the evidence of the past two games that Steve Clarke had a point bringing him on last 30-40 minutes against a tiring opposition.
wouldnt mind seeing those two up top for a game or two

Might have a spare(free) Ticket for tonight if any decent person is in need. Sitting beside me so you have to be good looking or nice or both. Anyone interested.

I've just stuck 2 quid on Barkley last goalscorer on Paddypower at 12-1 because of your dream. I'm listening to people who have dreams after yesterday. I was taking the wife to Whitby for a day out and driving on the North Yorks Moors when the wife said " Slow down, I dreamt we got a speeding ticket last night " So I slowed down to the speed limit of 60 and a few miles down the road a police van was set up, the ones that can spot you from 2k away. Well played to my witch wife, I will cry a few tears when I burn her for being a witch.

I've backed Everton to win, over 11 corners and card index over 40 points at 8-1 as well.

how much is one card worth mate

That's be like choosing to drive a Ford Mondeo when you've got a Ferrari in the garage.

The point about his effectiveness against tiring defences is a valid one, but maybe more applicable if you're WBA away from home & playing on the counter, as opposed to us at home & playing against a side who've parked the bus.

My fear is that we'll face that tonight against Newcastle (a parked bus). It's maybe a better option to work those two banks of defence before unleashing Lukaku on them. I hope we dont get to 60 minutes with stalemate and all we have to send on is Kone (or, God forbid, Jelavic).

Lukaku will get his chance to lead the line from the start here, but it might be a good idea to dose his effort initially.

I see your point, but equally I wouldn't fancy either of the other 2 options to cause them many problems in that scenario, I'd rather see Lukaku being given the responsibility & hopefully giving us a lead in the opening hour, than shouting ffs every time we attack & we're either offside or shooting like we're wearing clown shoes.

It basically underlines our predicament: we dont have options up front.

Hopefully Kone shows us something before January to avoid paying out (again) for a new striker, but if he doesn't we need what money there is (or shift Jelavic out) to dive into the transfer market soon.

It doesn't feel that way at the minute, in fairness Kone hasn't really been given a chance yet, but from the little I've seen I'm not expecting much from him.

Kone who has only played once and been injured since is never going to start.

Also given the fact Martinez has in interview this week said 'Lukaku is ready to start' id say you have your answer.

Howard

Coleman, Jags, Distin, Baines

Naismith (FFS) Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas

Barkley

Lukaku

is what im expecting the team to be

Brilliant work once again. The writing here is better than 99.9% of "professional" media outlets.

This. Any good player with power and pace will be more effective against tired players but I think he's got all the attributes to be our starting striker
