I think we'll destroy these. However having analysed our squad I am a bit concerned we only seem to have three players who are any good in a wide midfield position; Pienaar, Mirallas, Deulofeu. So it depends on whether the gaffer trusts young Gerard otherwise it's Naismith unless Pienaar comes back? On a side note, as we're almost certainly never going to play 4-4-2, I really do fail to see where Kone is going to get a look in this season? No League Cup to play our second team in, so every cup game is vitally important, and if Lukaku is fit he has to play. What a complete waste of 6m! Next season will come, Lukaku will be gone, and Kone will be 30 and still won't have been able to show anything in a blue shirt.

If Naismith has to play, I want to see this:

HOWARD
COLEMAN - JAGIELKA - DISTIN - BAINES
NAISMITH - MCCARTHY - BARRY - MIRALLAS
BARKLEY
LUKAKU

If Lukaku is injured we are going to be pleased to have Kone as back up. The alternative is ....(drumroll)....JELAVIC (a nightmare scenario)

According to Physioroom:

Newcastle
Ameobi, Cabaye and S. Taylor doubtful. Guitierrez, Hadiara and R. Taylor out.

Everton
Osman, Pienaar and Kone doubtful. Alcaraz out.

I'd imagine that we'd go for:

__________Howard
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
________Gibson Barry
___Mirallas Barkley Naismith
_________Lukaku

Newcastle have conceded 4 against City and 3 against Hull but they kept Fulham out and came away from Villa Park with a win. Our top scorer is Baines with 2, whereas Remy and Ben Arfa have both found the net twice in the league and Gouffran has netted in two competitions.

Monday night games can be quite dour and we're probably going to want to continue our unbeaten run, so I have a hunch that it will be a low-scoring draw. The Geordies are a Jekyll and Hyde side though, Lukaku might be fired up to impress on his home debut and we'll want to atone for the cup defeat, so maybe we'll get stuck into them?

In years gone by this game would have made me nervous, as we aspire to break into the top 4th.

NOT THIS YEAR.

We have options.

We have Martinez.

Never felt so confident because I know we're always going for the win now.

It might be sporadic at the back sometimes but this will settle.

2-0

If Cabaye is out we will win this....if playing then win or possibly a draw.

Not sure why some think Gibson will play, weve just done 13mil on McCarthy and Gibson is still not fully fit.

Still quietly confident. I'm finding the whole thing slightly unnerving. Not saying the Pythonesque Terrible feeling of Impending Doom thoughts aren't there, but suppressing them now is easier than a certain forum members Ma...
