A bit of effort is something that shouldnt ever be asked for. It should be a guarentee.
We're a poor side. Another set peice horror. Did i hear correct tonight that that is 75% of goals this season conceded from set peices.
If he doesnt sort that out he can clear his desk. Cant keep conceding goals like that. Who else said goal straight away when the ref blew for gueye's foul. Second i heard the whistle i went GOAL.
Its my biggest gripe with him. Persisting like a stubborn mule with something that every one else can see is wrong. Esp opposition teams. The whole country knows its our weakness.
Change it or leave. Idiot.

It really doesn't, because as a team we have been crap at defending set plays for about five years, including under Sam set-piece specialist gravy chugging Alardyce.

So no, I won't absolve our players of blame. They don't deserve that grace. They deserve just as much stick as the manager for it.

Manager definitely deserves most of, if not all the blame. Firstly we haven't had the same defenders/players over 5 years. Secondly we haven't been topping the conceding set pieces charts over last few years.(till now) Silva has. Even if the players are crap. The focus should be on Silva giving the evidence. Players are interchangeable.

Maybe I saw that different. Zouma was static for sure. Gomes was nearest I thought. Tall, yes. Would he out jump Laporte? No. He wasn't close enough anyway. Because of this 'zonal' stuff our players are being lost on the run by the opponent. The opposition are thriving off it. Like Wolves did on Saturday.
I hope our players work it out...but I'm not confident and it clearly hasn't been working for the last few months.
I thought the same thing initially, then on replay, there were a couple players behind Gomes, so I think he was properly positioned...but at least he was aggressively reacting to the ball. Zouma was to blame IMO. Keane didn't react, either, and Zouma may have been distracted by Aguero, but that's not how playing your zone works. You can move with the player, but you have to attack the ball. I personally would RATHER play that way as a bigger CB myself. Give me a bit of space and let me go after the ball. I really just think our two CBs are crap in the air, honestly. Service today off corners was good, was even better against Wolves and we did NOTHING with it.

I thought we lost.
