If we could control the ball,at times when its played up fast we might have had the chances,Lukaku in the 1st 10mins,when it would have been him/mirallas onto one or 2 off the bk 4 of pool

Three notes from me:

Oviedo doesn't know how to face up to a runner, which is Full Back 101.

Besic has been Jekyll and Hyde - one minute moving the ball quickly with one twos, then the next slowing down the play unnecessarily.

Joel cannot close down a ball on an angle. Did the exact thing against Krasnodar.
Think the Besic thing is cuz we're playing him sorta like the person to create chances, which he can do, but is really not his forte at all. I've written a long post about this before about what role he plays very successfully for B&H and then his role with us, which demands a lot of improvements from him going forward.

I'm happy with what he provides anyway, Barry just passes it back 9/10 times anyway and slows it down ridiculously more.

You can play with two defensive midfielders if the attack is good enough. But with Naismith it can never be good. He loses the ball to the opposition far too often. Too slow, blah, blah, blah.

Stand-outs: Robles, Stones, Besic, Lukaku.

LFC are there for the taking. If we can just get some more creativity into the last third of the pitch.

Played well I think, Oviedo needs to get into that Ibe more, myself I'd bring Lennon onto that wing and we would see no more of that Ibe getting forward, he's been a threat, need to counter him.

Nais off, Lennon on.

It's probably something to do with Naismith waving it off though?
Bobby is the boss not Naisy.

He clearly isn't %100 after landing pretty much on his head. The swap should be done at half time. A real good opportunity for Barkley to test a Liverpool back line that has been quite shakey that half.

Which one of them is on the field?

Acting as if this has never happened to any manager ever and Martinez is just some spineless pleb just to have something to moan about is hardly the thing to do on derby day :)

Point is, the staff saw something that made them want to pull Naisy. Martinez needs to do what he feels is best for the squad, whether or not Naisy likes it.

That being said, it's obviously not that simple.

Naismith's sternum looks to have been injured in that nasty tumble from a height. He speared himself. I think we need more creativity in the middle.

If only Barkley could get in the positions Naismith does then he would be awesome. Barkley would be more polished than Nais because for all his work rate and positioning he is not good with the ball.
