In my opinion the fingers should be pointing at Gareth Barry, awful game not getting tackles in,looks to me now he has a contract he didn't seem interested, truly awful.

Naismith and Barkley are two diffrent players completely

They are mate but barkley with his pace and surging runs atleast open up the space for lukaku to work, lukaku doesn't get that with Naismith and he gets no through balls from either (although barkley could develop and learn to add that to his game)

I agree mate but I don't think Naismith is playing there to supply lukaku.

No service from Naismith for Lukaku.
One cost nothing the other 28M
One has scored 3 goals in 3 games the other nothing.
We have some belters on this forum
Couldn't agree more. I have been critical of Naismith in the past, but the lad played well today. Took his goal brilliantly and worked his socks off. You could criticise some players today, but Naismith was not one of them.

One thing I will say and someone else said it already is that McCarthy needs to attack more. He was given space plenty of time and didn't attack it. Also, can't believe he let Hazard in so easily for that own goal. We need to learn to pressure them and not sit off when they are outside our box.

Everyone getting on Lukaku's back, amazing. Same people slagging off Mcgeady, both have contributed assists. We scored 2 against Leicester, 2 against Arsenal and 3...THREE against Chelsea. If we're playing the blame game, i can't blame the attacking players, theres a group of players called defenders that are messing this up.

I'm absolutely drained after that game, knackered, it was just a mess, Jags/Distin/Baines/Barry (first half)/McCarthy, all just so poor, Chelsea basically walked through us.

What annoys/worries me most is the fact that our pre season was such a joke and 3 games in, our players clearly aren't fit. Love RM but he's messed up massively. Players look so tired and our passing, possession work and excellent defence have disappeared.

The break couldn't come at a better time for me.

Trying to be positive...at the end of the season if you said our first three games we drew away with a team that had just come up, drew with arsenal and lost in an entertaining game to Chelsea, i wouldn't be too shocked.

you would have picked duffy for this game? hindsight's a wonderful thing

Nothing to do with hindsight mate.

I have been consistent that Duffy deserved to be in the first team squad ages ago.

RM has decided that he doesn't merit to stay at the club and I am very disappointed that imo we have let a bloody good CB go for sfa. See my other posts on Shane.

In the meantime we are heavily dependent on an ageing and, from the first three matches, very nervous pair of CBs.

Our backup is Stones (good) and Alcaraz..........right

Thats ridiculous, So you would've picked Duffy today over Jags, Distin and Stones?

He's gone to a championship club, theres a reason not one prem team has begged to take him, he isn't good enough. He's not good enough for our first team (that conceded the 2nd/3rd least last season) and he's not good enough for any prem team.

Positives - We look one of the best teams in the league going forward.

Negatives - We look one of the best defensively in league 2

You could take it on the chin if we were sitting in. 6 points, but it's the 3rd game running we've defended like twerps

I can't fathom how some folk are managing to talk about Lukaku getting a lack of service after a 6-3 defeat. Its pretty clear what we need to be talking about this evening and it certainly isn't our proficiency in the final third, we've just scored three goals against possibly the best defensive unit in Europe. Like others have said, you're unlikely to see Chelsea concede three again this season. It just doesn't happen.

As for those six goals we've conceded, it should go without saying to anyone that watched the game tonight that Chelsea were rather fortunate. Offsides, deflections, etc.

What we need to work on is preventing the opposition a chance to be fortunate. The way we invite pressure would give any team an opportunity of scoring.

fair enough.

he said he'd give him the chance to impress and if he did he'd get a spot, perhaps he didn't do enough for him. for all we know, duffy could have pleaded to leave for first team football - because he was 5th choice here.

just hope we bring in another CB now.
