During my fotball supporting life there have been two versions of Arsenal.

There is the exciting, cavalier Arsenal of the Wenger era.

But that was just an aberation…sandwiched between the pre Wenger “boring, boring“ Arsenal of Bertie Mee, Terry Neill, Rioch and George Graham and the current “boring, boring” Arsenal since the great man’s departure.

They really are a boring football club with very entitled fans.
Didn't they used to be called "Arsenal 1"?

Funny.

Also I would say that I think both Gordan and Godfrey had challenges reviewed by VAR that could’ve ended very badly for us. Neither was a red for me, but i could see how a ref could take a different view. Hence, some you get some you dont. I think that went it our favour because we were the home team and the 2nd offside goal was so tight. There would’ve been a sense of injustice about it.
I am anti-VAR, I think it's the worst change to the game since multiple subs. Take the second disallowed goal where a toe was offside. My point is, in another game, the decision could very easily go the other way. Faceless people at Stockley Park, with no responsibility for their decisions. I am not casting aspersions on last nights Stockley Park officials but the system does appear to be weak and open to abuse, however unlikely.
Football is not a game where the outcome could be influenced by people sat in front of a computer a couple of hundred miles away. The sooner VAR is dumped the better. There, rant over!

The mad thing about last night is, if Arsenal had carried on playing their game. They’d have probably gone on to win.

Them turning the game into a scrap to try and waste time from about an hour in done them no favours at all. Especially with the crowd behind us.

If there’s a single group of players in this league with a softer belly than us, it’s Arsenal.

If that was Arteta's call then I'm honestly surprised.. surely he of all people would've known that wouldn't have worked at Goodison?

It's undeniable that bigger teams got more favourable decisions before VAR. Any visit to the Pit or OT would show that.
Whilst VAR has vagaries it is designed to get the most accurate and therefore correct result and on that basis it has to be better for football - certainly for offside decisions. Doesn't take away the pain of Richy's disallowed goals yesterday - which were correct in both cases in my view.
When it comes to penalties awarded this is a bit trickier to be precise with. That said - again pre-VAR you'd see many more at Anfield and the Pit so it has to be fairer. I don't think it's very clear when it comes to disallowing goals for infringements in the build up - so some improvements are still needed.
