That isn't good enough today. Not by a long chalk.

It was pitiful even for most of the second half when we turned the heat up enough to get the first goal.

But it's all about experimentation this season.

Nil Desperandum....

no it really isn't dave

its about finishing as high as possible in the league. Europa league is a must with the money spent.

EL means 6th probably. Not happening.

7th to 11th this season as a base,. Then we have to see some real ambition to get a top 6 finish. If we see that over the first two seasons then that's all we can ask for....though a cup would be nice too.

cant see us beating millwall AWAY … not playing like this

It is annoying how low our performance levels can go after we score or when we’re under pressure. We have some sort of default. Hole mode that just induced panic and we slip into it whenever we go 1 up or concede. It’s like we’re not comfortable with anything other than a draw. Good teams just stride on confidently and hit 3 or 4 once they have a break through at home. We just panic.

...I cant see us getting that spot either. We look unbalanced and are way short up front.

We've got every chance of getting it purely because the other teams are all as inconsistent as us, tbh.

We've shown we're capable of going on a good run. Confidence is vital.

...and a long slump.

True.

So have the other sides.

Honestly, I'm not saying we'll finish seventh. But, we have every chance purely down to who we're going up against.

Now, if we can perhaps get a striker in this window - but a proper striker, who can be here for the long run (which is a tough ask) - or/and perhaps that extra midfielder, then I'd say we could get ourselves in pole position to do so.

But first and foremost we just have to concentrate on Southampton next time out. That'll be a tough one.
