Everton U23s doing great

So we're only judging players as 'coming through from the U23s' as success stories only if they've been at the club literally all their life? That's not how most people judge the success of a modern U23 team. Signing people and developing them in the under 23s and getting them ready for the first team is what it's all about. Holgate and DCL were rough diamonds and the U23 coaching helped get them first team ready.

There are others with first team debuts - Connolly, Browning, Pennington. These are all good players coming through.

Just because an U23 player hasn't been at EFC for life doesn't mean he's any less an U23 player coming through. Lets not forget - Man Utd signed Giggs from Man City and Beckham started off at Spurs, and everyone regards them as Man Utd academy success stories.
Kenny and Dowell, both 19, have also had debuts. And Liam Walsh is, in my view, the pick of the bunch. There are also 3/4 excellent prospects in the group bellow them. Mostly local lads.

There's a really good youth team thread on the go

Seriously though, if he does win the title, there will be lower league clubs sniffing around him in the summer for vacant managerial roles.

It happened with Warren Joyce at Man Utd, did well with their reserves and has recently got his first league managers job at Wigan.

I can well believe this, but, if he is given a transfer budget, has a link to the first team and is being earmarked as potentially taking over down the line there is every chance he will stay and continue to make us a force again.

He could go to a struggling team, have a bad few games and be on the scrapheap.

He loves this club and that cannot be underestimated. If Koeman trusts his judgement on players at U23 then we have the perfect triumberant in Koeman Unsworth and Walsh.

Beat Arsenal 1-0 tonight, to regain their 6 point lead ahead of 2nd placed Man City, with 6 games left to play (and one of them away at Man City on March 3rd). The win tonight is even better when you consider 7 key members of this season's squad left on loan at the end of January, Delial Brewster, Conor Grant, Callum Connolly, Gethin Jones, Russell Griffiths, Tyias Browning and Calum Dyson

11 points ahead of Liverpool and 21 points ahead of Man Utd too.

Things are looking up!

Conor Grant has been on loan at Ipswich before he went back to Doncaster, Tyias Browning has been out injured, only played a few games before going on loan to Preston, Russell Griffiths has been on loan most of the season before going to Motherwell on loan, a very good prospect but his contract is up in the summer, Connolly and Jones are very good players who have an excellent chance of good football careers, hopefully with Everton.

I've got to agree about Liam Walsh, he will surely make the first team before the end of the season and play a few games,
even as a sub, Jonjo Kenny as already played in the first team and he will not let the team down if called up to the first team. With Lookman already showing his style in the first eleven along with Davies and Holgate the future could be bright
for Everton's future.

As he says there's a thread that covers the U23s. He was trying to be helpful , in that that is where every match has been covered the season.

I appreciate that mate but the Everton Under 23s deserve their own thread due to their excellent season and having attained far greater significance than the other other age group teams, especially given we are now specifically signing players for the U23s and that the U23s are now being streamed live by Everton from now on due to growing interest, starting with the Southampton game on February 20th.

Sorry mate but you've missed the point completely. It may be called the Youth Thread but it covers the U23s comprehensively by people who watch the the U23s live, watch the live streams when they are on , posted about the Southampton match being on tv way before this thread , post updates of the PL 2 league and fixtures , transfers in etc etc It's being going for years and has discussed every U23s match this season and every U23s player of note from Tom Davies to Antonee Robinson and all in between . The U23s have been top of the league all season, it's not a recent thing . Good luck if you want to duplicate it that's up to you.
