Beat Arsenal 1-0 tonight, to regain their 6 point lead ahead of 2nd placed Man City, with 6 games left to play (and one of them away at Man City on March 3rd). The win tonight is even better when you consider 7 key members of this season's squad left on loan at the end of January, Delial Brewster, Conor Grant, Callum Connolly, Gethin Jones, Russell Griffiths, Tyias Browning and Calum Dyson

11 points ahead of Liverpool and 21 points ahead of Man Utd too.

Things are looking up!

Seriously though, if he does win the title, there will be lower league clubs sniffing around him in the summer for vacant managerial roles.

It happened with Warren Joyce at Man Utd, did well with their reserves and has recently got his first league managers job at Wigan.

Yes, I can definitely see Rhino as a league manager within the next 12 months. Will be sad to see him go, but I reckon he will be back . . . . . . . . one day

I'd expect unsworth will want to ply his trade somewhere as a manager rather than the u23s in the future but who knows.

I've no doubt the England youth sides will be looking at him as well as perhaps lower end championship clubs

Besides the point.. with the 23s doing so well now is the time if ever to give them a chance in the first team although I can't help but think that no matter how well they are doing the standard of the majority of them is way off being first team ready. The gulf is huge sadly

Do we have any young guns ready to make the Senior starting 11 soon though?

Tom Davies and Mason Holgate already did this season and remain involved.
Dominic Calvert-Lewis had just received his first 1st team start this season as well, before getting injured.
Callum Connolly and Tyias Browning, out on loan, already made their first team senior debuts.

On the pitch tonight, Matty Pennington has already made his first team debut, and he'd be out on loan with the rest of the lads getting experience, if he hadn't been out for months with an injury. He's only just regained full fitness after a long spell out.

So yeah, we have loads coming through, and quite a few have either already broken through, or on the cusp of the first team squad.

It's probably the best batch of youngsters coming through at the same time that we've had in many years. As the current Reserves league position shows.

You're correct to an extent, but 3 already broke through into the 1st team this season, and as mentioned above, a few others who have already had the odd first team game are now out on loan getting valuable experience. We have some terrific players coming through and that's not just cliched lip service either.

Who are the three? Davies, Holgate and Calvert?

Davies played last season and we already knew at 17 when he was given training time with the full England squad he was going to be special. We knew holgate was decent when we signed him also so no surprises, same with Calvert. Davies is the only one who's actually come through who's been with us throughout?

So we're only judging players as 'coming through from the U23s' as success stories only if they've been at the club literally all their life? That's not how most people judge the success of a modern U23 team. Signing people and developing them in the under 23s and getting them ready for the first team is what it's all about. Holgate and DCL were rough diamonds and the U23 coaching helped get them first team ready.

There are others with first team debuts - Connolly, Browning, Pennington. These are all good players coming through.

Just because an U23 player hasn't been at EFC for life doesn't mean he's any less an U23 player coming through. Lets not forget - Man Utd signed Giggs from Man City and Beckham started off at Spurs, and everyone regards them as Man Utd academy success stories.
