Definitely 3 worse teams in the league
Player wise then I wholeheartedly agree, however quality alone is not enough this season where it is much closer than in the past.
Teams like Burnley clearly have guile and determination to stay up; they have a style of play which is underpinned by a purpose.
On the other hand, our squad looks completely lost of all confidence, drive and focus. Are they overly complacent about our league status?
QPR, Hull and Villa have all won the same amount of games as us this season and they're nowhere near as strong as our squad.
As
@nsno-chris mentioned, I do not attribute this to some form of syndrome that will be merely solved by a new season and new names.
Instead, I think it's rigidity fuelled by complacency combined with an egoistic belief that a singular approach will produce the desired effects.
In essence that is what concerns me about the view or belief that Martinez can and will turn things around next season.
If he has been unwilling (or unable) to adapt our approach even though it has clearly not worked, then why believe he will change next season?
We've attempted to play the same approach as last season although teams have developed counter measures. Next season it could be suicidal.
In business if you are rigid then you're likely to come unstuck; if you follow an approach which is haemorrhaging cash then you get little sympathy.
Why should that be any different in football? We may have the quality but we aren't using our assets. If we do down then it's our own fault.
