To be honest, you're hanging the "we were great for half a season" argument.

We were all right.

Martinez isn't the radical people make him out to be.

They played more long balls than everton did last year, and a similar amount of crosses. Short passing was his preference but his team tried to mix it up just as much as we did.

In terms of play the only real difference between the two sides is we were much better at defending and they didn't bottle it in the cup. Which given the difference in budgets, is a point in martinez' favour, tbh that our style of football in terms of attacking was basically the same despite ours costing twice as much.
