Surely it could benefit the away team as well?

I talk a lot to a sunderland fan in his 50s, these days, and according to him in the late 70s early 80s they played horrible long ball football but had the best passing pitch in the land.

Meaning that whenever they played a good passing team, like paisleys liverpool, they would get their arses kicked at home but at the mud bowl at anfield would do quite well.

Everton under Moyes played the best football in Europe the first half of last Season.

Like some clown who gets teams relegated is gonna do better.

Yet we took more points in the second half of the season?

Pah. I can see where this is going. Spot on about Moyes getting us playing some ace footie, its easily forgotten for some.

Were all about Roberto now though.

Agree; some of our football was amazing. First third of the season; even the West Ham goal. We played good football last year. Over the years of Moyes, we had a tendency to lump it.

I didn't want Martinez. I'm not convinced he'll work, but he'll 100% play it on the deck - more than Moyes ever did. So the pitch has to be as pristine as possible. Surely that's obvious. That doesn't mean playing it on the deck means more points. It doesn't mean he's the right manager. But we should have the best pitch possible for passing football.

Pub Quiz time?

Which team played more long balls last year, Moyes' Everton or Martinez's Wigan?
