Forget Arteta, Heitinga, Neil, Jagielka, Vaughan, Anichebe, etc etc.
They are not first team players.

They are long term injured or new and unproven.

This 11 first team absence baloney makes me raise both eyebrows, and it's a poor excuse that those who use it should drop.

Pienaar yes.
Yobo yes.
Neville yes.
Osman yes.
Baines yes.

They are the first team players that were missing.

The team has moved on from Arteta and Jags now, and they will have to win their place back. Jags got in because Yobo was injured, and now the tables have turned again. Arteta has been out since February, so can we class an 8 month absentee as being a first team player? No.

Anichebe and Vaughan are not regular first team players, and neither are Heitinga or Neil. Heitinga has to prove himself before he can be classed as a first team player, and Neil has barely kicked a ball.

We had 5 first team players missing against Benfica.

Let's stop talking crap and looking for excuses.

Absolutely spot on.

Seems to me that people are refusing to look facts in the face, and have basically turned their back on the club motto.

We lost 6-1 at home to Arsenal, and that was seen as the Lescott effect and lack of preparation, but nobody really pointed a finger at the club, manager or players.

We lose 5-0 away to Benfica and Moyes prefers to champion a Benfica player rather than basically say that too many senior professionals didn't turn up.

There can be no more excuses.

The midfield played [Poor language removed], and Jo is terrible, but the main reason it finished 5-0 \/\/as because of the defense \/\/e had to field, \/\/hether you think its just an excuse or not, it's the main factor, and looking at the team sheet it's pretty obvious.

Absolutely agree that the lads in that midfield should've done at leasy 10 times better though, and given the back 4 some ******* protection. the front 6 are all lads \/\/ho \/\/ould like to consider themselves first team players, time to sho\/\/ it

(N.B. if anyone isn't a\/\/are, the reason for my dodgy \/\/'s is because i smashed my keyboard repeatedly into my monitor \/\/hen the fifth goal \/\/ent in, and broke the top 2 left hand letter keys. sliced a finger and all, still..)

**** me, anger management required there mate???

Your right about the lack of protection from seasoned pro's in midfield and up front.

I \/\/as alright after the goal \/\/ent in, but it coincided \/\/ith my stream going do\/\/n, pushed me over the edge. the \/\/ardrobe felt my fury and all, but i felt i'd rather break my keyboard than my knuckles

In my opinion an excuse is something made up to cover faults, missing 11 players who are contracted to play for everton football club last night is FACT.I dont care how long they are missing or wether you consider them as worthy of mentioning, David Moyes obviously counts them as valuable members of his squad and thats good enough for me. Last night the experienced players never showed up and the younger ones were like lambs to the slaughter against a good team, but to disregard the FACT we were missing so many influencal players is laughable

Sorry mate, but thats clearly wrong. Last night result shows how badly we miss them, Arteta is the most important player in our team.

I'm not saying we are deliberating on contemplating life without them, but merely saying after 8 months out, he can't be used as an excuse, or regarded as a first team player.

Bet your regretting it now?

I destroyed a Playstation controller last month due to an angry session on Tiger Woods. It's only just held together with tape.

Thought you didn't play games? NERD

Broken many a 360 pad, my t\/\/o hulk inducing things, football games and everton getting battered mixing \/\/ith electronics crashing.

And to be fair, my keyboard came out of it alright. mostly \/\/orks, just the \/\/ and that horrible letter that usually comes before U that i don't need to use.

But on topic.

Sorry bud, but to say we lost because we had 11 players missing is what I feel is laughable.

Only Coleman has not seen regular first team action from the starting 11, so if you want to say we had 11 missing, I'll tell you that we only had 1 missing, as that is how silly counting bench players, newcomers, and long term injured players as first teamers is. :)

I sometimes have time to play the odd game, going to get into a bit of FM2010 this weekend. Got it all lined up, may even start a thread on it to show Moyes how it's done.

So if we get more injuries, and more players are out, is that just bad luck?

Or are alarm bells starting to ring on how the side are getting trained.

We could have played Mustafi and Duffy in central defense, and noone would have been out of position, as Distin is also a left back. But if Duffy's toe is still sore, should we call it 12? :dodgy:
