Forest bid £20m for Dennis - gossip

The Athletic are reporting that Nottingham Forest have made a £20m bid for Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international scored 10 Premier League goals for the Hornets last season.

Morning all, here’s the latest news, rumours and updates for Thursday the 11th of August. Definitely still some deals to be done!

Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Southampton and Scotland forward Che Adams on loan, according to reports.

The Athletic report that Adams, 26, is a target for Frank Lampard as he looks to fill the strikerless void in the Blues squad. On Saturday evening, the Toffees' promising performance against Chelsea was cracked by the absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin - who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following the injury he sustained last month - Salomon Rondon and Richarlison - who was sold to Spurs for £50m back in July

Everton have reportedly made a ‘first offer’ to try and sign Rennes striker Serhou Guirassy. It was reported earlier this week that the Goodison Park outfit hold an ‘interest‘ in signing Guirassy, as they look for a new striker following the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur.

The six-foot-two colossus scored an impressive 12 goals and made a further three assists in France last season (Transfermarkt), recording impressive statistics in Ligue 1 for numerous aspects of his gameplay.

Taking to Twitter, French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, a reporter for major news outlet RTL, has revealed that ‘in recent hours’, talks have ‘intensified’ between Rennes and the Toffees over Guirassy, with a ‘first offer’ already being made:

Everton talks to potentially sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja are still ‘ongoing’. It has been reported throughout the window that the Goodison Park outfit hold an interest in signing Broja

Writing in his latest piece for iNews, journalist Mark Douglas has revealed that talks over the possible signing of Broja are ‘ongoing’. He adds that the Merseyside club have also agreed the heavily reported deal for their former midfielder Idrissa Gueye, so can now focus their attentions on the Albania international

David Moyes’ first attempt to solve his central defensive issues have reportedly been snubbed after he made a loan bid for Everton’s Michael Keane.

According to [Publication Blacklisted], Moyes has tried to raid his former club Everton as he searches for reinforcements, but has been unsuccessful in his bid to sign Keane, 29.

Idrissa Gana Gueye is yet to reach an agreement with Everton, delaying a potential return from Paris Saint Germain this summer.

That’s according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who explains why a move for the midfielder is not progressing as expected.

On Tuesday, we covered a report that stated they’re still putting the pressure on to get the deal they want but Gueye is ‘hesitating’, hence the delay.

Hawkins follows that up and explains that Gueye has ‘not yet reached an agreement’ with Everton despite weeks of talks.

With Everton boss Frank Lampard wanting to sign a new striker this window, the former Chelsea man has been lining up a bid for Viktor Gyokeres according to the Daily Mail. However, Coventry manager Mark Robins has now spoken to Coventry Live about the player and has insisted that there is ‘zero truth’ in the reports that say talks between the striker and the Toffees are underway, and that the creators of those reports are ‘idiots’.

Reported Everton target Mohamed Camara is ‘determined’ to leave Red Bull Salzburg this summer but is yet to receive an offer from any club.

That’s according to Salzburg 24, who provide an insight into the situation around the midfielder today. Camara has this week found himself linked with a move to Everton, who have turned their attention to the 22-year-old amid difficulties in signing Idrissa Gana Gueye according to reports in England.

Those claims have now been picked up on in Austria, where they insist Salzburg are yet to receive an official offer for Camara.

Juventus is reportedly intensifying its efforts to offload Moise Kean. The striker re-joined them on loan from Everton at the start of last season, and they could be obligated to buy him for around 28m euros by the end of this campaign.

However, his return to Juve has not been a good one as he struggles to score when he plays and rarely does get playing time at the club. He recently missed their friendly game against Atletico Madrid because he turned up late for a training session, and he may have played his last match for the club.

The former PSG loanee has now been offered to OGC Nice according to a report on Football Italia.

Everton have been linked with Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison once again. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury meaning that Frank Lampard is desperately short of central striking options, Football League World understands that the Toffees remain interested in the Blades teenager.

They had an offer rejected last summer but Everton believe that the 19-year-old, while a target for his long-term potential, could help to solve their current problems.

Weaker in one position agreed but id take our current squad over last seasons.
Spot on mate, we desperately need a striker in, but, even without one, I think this squad is far less likely to be drawn into a relegation battle than last year's was. Richarlison will be a big miss, as much for his work rate as his goals, but, we seem to be using the money well.

Isn't it strange that when we have a window as brilliant as this one, people still want more.

We still have FFP to take into consideration; patience.
I wouldn't say it's strange at all given how close we were to being relegated last season.

Obviously people want more.

Richarlison is gone, Calvert-Lewin is injured again and given that we don't have the Gueye deal over the line we need another midfielder. It'd be naive to place so much reliance on a 20 year old.

Thelwell’s European road trip.
Started in North West (Burnley actually) down the M6 to Wolverhampton, carried on dropped a few visits in London (possibly calling in on the way back too), now he’s hopped over on the channel ferry to France been through Paris and on now towards Germany.
Great roads over there, should be back by end of the month.

Stuck on the Nürburgring on deadline day

Pont taken.

Unless we raise funds through sales I think we will largely be reliant on loans and these will come towards the end of the window as teams hang on with the hope of realising a sale. In the same way the players we would like to offload will probably end up as loans.

£10m for Dembele or Gyokeres, or £15m for Kalajdzic or Guirassy all sound like better options IMHO.

Dennis has a lot of talent like, would add someone who can make something out of nothing which I think we lack. 10 mil for Dembele does seem very good value tho.

Agreed.

The scale of our transfer activity in this window has been surprisingly positive, given all the noise at the end of last season regarding our apparent financial issues.

At some point however we have to rid the squad of the more expensive dead wood otherwise we simply perpetuate the same cycle of having to sell a star just to stay within the rules. At the same time I hope we've put a stricter wage structure in place for all these new arrivals: Tarkowski, McNeil and Onana need to be on lower wages than Mina, Richarlison and Gomes.
