If we’ve sold an extra few thousand shirts then we could’ve made that difference up that way though. Also we could have add ons coming in from previous transfers, Spurs might’ve owed us an add on for Richarlison hitting 10 goals for example. We have no idea what money has been coming into the club through other means than player sales. PSR isn’t just transfers.
Nobody other than the club knows.
It's all guesswork, but evidently needed some sales in June.
I still maintain that if we didn't have shenanigans with Villa, or sell Godfrey/others - then
Branthwaite would have been a Man Utd player this weekend for <£50m. The club have done well to prevent that - there's still a decent chance he's sold for big money after 30th.
Man Utd knew we were in trouble - they've cried like hell behind the scenes to force token letter/warnings etc.
I think we've also sold Goldfrey for less than we wanted - I reckon the comments from Ornstein that we'll keep him and let his deal run out before selling him for less is true. They'd have kept him if they had the choice. Dyche liked his versatility. But we've had to take a bit of a hit, just with PSR. We'd have done the same with
Branthwaite for a bigger chunk.
