Everton reply to Times investigation and it's two no's

Mate with your background in PR and being an Everton supporter you should know how appalling our communications strategy and delivery are. The idea that they will have thought of having something prepared, well yes they should have, but this is Everton.

Not wishing to be cynical but for all the good things we do, comms is not one of them.

...I would've hoped Moshiri's would have positively impacted the comma strategy by now, sure he has his people managing/influencing such strands of business.

Ha ha - see what you mean. I shall stop or post more often! It's still showing no reply on my edition of the Times but great if we have replied.

Please do.
Must admit to thinking that you were on a wind up with your initial post after @Jacob posted the full article.
Obviously the Times either got it wrong in the early edition, or we hadn't replied at that time.;)

All good - I have to say that when it was posted we had responded I had a moment or two before going back in! I think it was updated at lunchtime. Have to say that I'd be surprised if Chelsea was the only prem club that had closed ranks.

Just to clarify for you, I posted the article extract and full link just as I read it about 1045 this morning....its the same timeline by the author Ziegler a minute after midnight last night. Out of interest for you, the article is still on before when I had a look with the same byline as below....theres no "Updated" flag next to it as usually happens.

fair enough but it was the media that exposed the scandal not the police or football authorities.

This is what "the media" would like us to think, but I am not sure how true it is.

For a start, the authorities (the Police / CPS) have been investigating, prosecuting and convicting nonce coaches for years - Bennell had been convicted three times (in 1994 (in the US), 1998 and 2015) by the time the scandal was "exposed", Ormond was convicted in 2002, Higgins tried (but not convicted) in 1991. All of those trials were a matter of public record, so what was the delay in "exposing" them then (especially as that Despatches programme linked to on the other thread had done a lot of the groundwork)?

fair enough but it all started up again with an ex player giving an interview in the guardian and dispatches is the media.
i didnt see the football authorities looking into any of it.

Remember this was responding to two simple straight questions. It asked:

have you got anyone to sign an NDA related to sexual assault

Have you paid out anyone in compensation in relation to sexual assault.

Thirteen Premier League teams have firmly answered this.

Opinions differ, mine is if you can answer, you do - ideally no. Alternatively, if we have done it, get the poison out and move on.

If those are the exact questions posed then technically they may not be able to answer 'no'. Those questions do not relate literally to the under-age abuse.....it's quite feasible that someone in the office, or a player could have dipped in at an Xmas party for example with another member of staff and been dragged in the office post-Xmas and challenged. That in turn could have lead to a compromise agreement or compensation being facilitated.
I expect Everton will act in the proper manner as they normally do when all around them are dropping f bombs.
