Everton: How David Moyes has reinvented the club

That's not what the article is saying though. A rather over the top headline makes it seem much more radical then it actually is.

It's not comparing us pre moyes with current and saying Moyes has reinvented us. It's comparing Moyes current team with Moyes team from last season and saying Moyes has changed our style since then.

So what your saying is Davek has twisted words to push an agenda?

Yeah right, like that EVER happens.

Yeah, I did read it. I was responding to Brennan's post. I think for the majority of the time since the team has been his, rather than one he inherited, we have mostly ground out results with rigid tactics but have sporadically played really well. Some astute signings since January last year have flipped that, with good play being the norm at the moment. A team's style is just as much to to with the players as the manager, and we have some good attacking players now, better than we've had for a long time.

Yup. With Gibson, Fellaini, Jelavic and Baines succeeding wildly as an attacking defender (complementing Piennaar nicely in one of the best left hand sides in the EPL), I think it's clear that the team has made an important shift in their style of play. Comparing 2012-13 Everton with 2006-07 Everton, for example, just shows you how much the team has changed. And, obviously as a manager, you will manage differently based on the style/quality of players you have at your disposal.

I'm struggling to think of any better. To qualify the LB and LM would have to play together most games, most teams chop and change their 'attacking 4'.

IIRC it was Duncan Ferguson who he was always having a pop at, accusing him of only being up for the big games. He had a point there like. Obviously JR didn't like what was being written and there was a falling out.

Always thought he was more of a kopite myself as he used to praise them highly in his weekly column in the Echo.

'The Tartan Trapist' McNulty used to call DF because of his refusal to talk to journalists. Before THAT Coventry game McNulty called Duncan out as a traitor to the cause or some such nonsense because he wouldn't give the Echo a tub thumping statement/speech for the upcoming relegation decider.

That's how much of an egomaniac the feller was/is.

Reinvented is a weird concept, esp in relation to a football club. I reckon, for what it is worth, is that the last 18 months have seen us start to return to the sort of expectations and hopes that the more mature folks on here remember. Perhaps not in terms of winning the league, but being seen as part of the elite clubs, playing well, maintaining that "Eberton" class as a club that we have ALWAYS had, ("He aint heavy" just the latest example), and feeling, well, "good" about the team, the club, and the future.

We will always have disagreements about that sub or that selection, and some will never give credit where due, but as a yardstick, the majority of other clubs/supporters currently have a respect for Eberton that hardly any other club would receive. For that, perhaps DM can take some credit, but the supporters, esp the week in, week out ones, should be included in the mix.

Wouldn't argue with that. Stability and respectability is what Moyes has achieved. We have a long illustrious history though, and McNulty knowingly does us down by using words like 'reinvented' over best of the rest finishes and a more than decent first half of this season.

Tempting fate eulogising now.

The possibility of Moyes reverting to type and the post xmas upturn going tits up is completely ignored one look at yesterdays team sheet shows he ain't completely changed his spots.

But has he reinvented Everton? Oh yes! .... absolutely no doubt about it, hardly recognisable now.

He's pocketed £20M to £25M so far in wages. He actually has more money than Billy Liar now. Maybe he could invest?

Worth every penny. Convinced we would be championship level if not for him. Has made us more than he has gained

If Moyes leaves we may as well throw in the towel and fold the club because no manager in the world could keep Everton in the premier league under the circumstances he works under
