No. The 2nd point he has little influence over. The 1st point sure, it's his area of responsibility, and I agree it's weaker than it should be. Question is what can be done to improve this?

Strangely in football if you don't perform you tend to get binned off one way or another...

Echo article from this summer mentions the Kitbag deal was extended only last year, 2014, for another 4 years. Hindsight and all that, but perhaps we could have moved for a shorter agreement? Potentially tens of millions lost by locking in with Kitbag until 2018.

I think we said that last time there was a long renewal back in 2012 or so. Maybe the reason we're sticking with Kitbag, Umbro and Chang is because we don't have any better offers from elsewhere.

Absolutely valid points, most of us aren't privy to the bidding/tendering process for these kinds of deals at the club, but bringing the Kitbag operations (shops, staff) under club control wouldn't appear to be beyond the capabilities of Everton.

You'd hope!

The problem is that we all assume that it would be better in house (despite past performance).
Although I personally think that we could, this deal was struck in 2008? and was probably the right thing to do at that time.
The problem now is that presumably penalties would have to be paid so would have to make not only the guaranteed element but also enough to cover the potential penalties. So is it worth the risk?

He may be performing to the best of his ability, but measured against his peers, who, on the whole, have similar opportunities, he is very poor.

In terms of maximising commercial opportunities you could argue that he is poorer off than his peers, but mitigating circumstances like not being a London club, being seen (commercially) as the 2nd club in Liverpool and not having had any Champs League presence could be used to defend that.

In terms of what his brief as CEO is (organisation, transparency, stability), I think he compares relatively favourably with his peers...that is, if we mean peers to be CEO's of fellow non-Champs League clubs.

It's ever fashionable to bash the suits who run our club, but sometimes it's not all entirely fair. I think we can do better than Elstone, but he's not bad (certainly not "very poor")...we could've done worse too.

You can't say that based solely on simplistic comparisons with figures that are largely apples and pears comparisons.

If his employers are the money hungry carpetbaggers that is suggested, then why haven't they sacked him off and improved their equity value by adding (what is simplisitcally perceived) to be 'easy money' to the bottom line?

Not happy tbh, net debt figure to high, had hoped the gross debt figure last year would eat away at the bottom line.

While insignificant in terms of our turnover, threading water really and if the unthinkable happened and we got relegated we would be on our backsides.

Overall not a great indicator for any investment in infrastructure, thus growth is stagnating in any meaningful sense, utterly dependent on the TV wonga.

Because he's a lap dog who'll STFU and doesn't deviate from the party line of doing precisely f.a. other than to hold out two hands for the tv cash.

If you want to know what the alternative looks like refer yourself back to Trevor Birch's experience with these owners. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/e/everton/3901225.stm
