Everton FC Statement Of Accounts

Your question is about why Elstone isn't sacked if he isn't a rain maker for the club. I'm giving you an example of a rain maker being sacked because the ideas he had to move the club forward were seen by the owners as threatening. It's entirely relevant. What they get from Elstone is a yes man who can shuffle the papers a bit, knows the ropes between accountancy (his real trade) and managing club debt, but cant cut it marketing the club (hence the recent recruitments...because Elstone is a clown at it).
The example you gave was from over a decade ago, when the landscape was totally different and therefore it's irrelevant to today.

If you mean by a 'yes man' a CEO who's prepared to work within the parameters the stakeholders give him in terms of resource, then he is. As are most others....

Without the Sky money every PL club barring United and dem oil clubz would be in trouble by that premise, as every club in the Division 'cuts its cloth' in relation to that income. It's therefore a ridiculous assertion.
disagree. We have almost 3/4 of our entire revenue based on the TV contracts. No club is near that. That goes down, we are in way more trouble than any other club. Of the top 20 clubs in that chart on page 2, there is only one club that is worse than us in anything(Napoli with 17mil in match going moneys).

Literally only saving grace from last year is that we performed really well in the previous year so we had a lot of TV exposure until people realized we were crap.

One of the interesting figures that arise from today's publication of accounts is that Everton generate approximately 60% per spectator per match in gate receipts against the Premier League average.
Are you referring to the 32.50 quoted by Richard Scudamore mate as that is presumably the VAT inclusive figure.

Said it before, if you're going to beat someone with a stick, make sure there are no weaknesses in it.

Just had a look at the accounts (note 2), and worked out the percentages for 2015. The figures in brackets are the percentages if you work it on a revised turnover figure 133,800,000 to reflect the position if Kitbag/Sodexo deals were in house.
TV - 65.05 (61.06)
Gate - 14.26 (13.38)
Commercial - 20.69 (25.56)

Did the adjusted ones for 2014 in an earlier post.

No mate, when did Richard Scudamore quote that?
Newsnight - also said Premier League far from it's peak of earning potential, their are definitely gay footballers in the Premier League but he doesn't know any (strange remark really) and now would be a good time for them to come out, and the 39th game thing was briefly discussed when he gave the example of Crystal Palace playing at home to Man Utd in Hong Kong and being surrounded by 90% of the "home fans" being UTD supporters. Oh and much talk of how the PL gives away 15% of it's top line income to grass-roots football, but was caught out on the definition.

Sounds like typical Richard Scudamore.

What I don't understand is that when you have a premium global brand why you feel the need to "gild the lily". Much better in my humble opinion to state the attractiveness of the product at home and on TV and the opportunities to continue to grow the brand and incomes globally.

A favorite line used during the summer was I'll be happy if we don't sign anybody as long as the dept is reduced.

Good times... That worked out splendid...

Let's get them a plane as thanks...

Couldn't make it up really

Think what he was getting at was that globally there is room to expand the brand and revenue streams - forgot the bit about it already being the most watched league because it's the most exciting. When you consider that the distribution is more canted towards the SKY 4 (or 6) given the changes it seems like a strange statement as the PL is responsible for turning it into a less competitive league by it's very own actions. Or am I being thick here.

Part of his role is to dangle a carrot in front of the non SKY4 or SKY6 to encourage investment/speculation particularly in the SKY7+ (defined by history, current status and ability to invest)

SKY6 - Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs

SKY7-10 Everton, Southampton, West Ham and Stoke

Sky11-20 Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Leicester, Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Brom, Norwich, Swansea, Watford and Bournemouth

Err, the accounts are from pre-summer mate.

also bought Mori (9-9.5m) del (4-4.4m), and lennon (4m) with no outs so we did spend some money. I agree we need to be sold as well but its important to get facts right

Today's accounts prove once more, if further proof was needed, that without significant investment of additional capital the scope for further development of the club is limited. With the access to capital and hugely superior commercial and gate revenues of the group we wish to compete with (Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham) then that battle to do so gets harder and harder each year.
Phew!

Probably being dense here, but by the introduction of FFP there is a new barrier to non-infrastructure investment meaning that the gap will at best remain static if not widen further.
Difficult to explain exactly what I mean, but put simplistically, if infrastructure cost is financed by debt, you have to ensure that the additional income is going to produce profit?
My brain hurts!!!
Night all.

Must confess, in my first or second post, I did say the accounts are pretty pointless to analyse as there has been another tfer window and a round of funding from JG.
Post Balance Sheet Events note says a net spend of 22mil on players from memory.
