Yeah in Canada anyone in the know loves us (except Liverpool and just recently Arsenal fans) It's fun though being the underdog and I just keep showing up to the Duke of Gloucester by myself to watch the Toffees at 10am.

Most of the American bandwagon fans that "support" Liverpool over here couldn't name any of their players other than Gerrard and Torres.

Same goes for those who wear Chelsea shirts. You couldn't find a Chelsea shirt ten years ago.

Most of the people who I know know about Everton because they know I support them and will talk about them every chance I get, whether they like it or not.

In the states, I have a large handful of friends who support Chelsea and ManU, then one each for: The RS, Spurs, Blackburn, Newcastle and Fulham.

The fans of the latter four have at least some kind of reason for following the team. The Reds supporter lived in L'pool for three years, and they got to him first.

As for the friends I have who are "supporters" of the rest, well, you can just tell they root for front runners.

As for Everton, every time I talk with someone about football, they always make a point to tell me I'm the "only Evertone fan I've ever met." When I ask what they know of the club, the answer is always the same ... they say Everton's a good team, but they don't know anything else other than that. One guy actually knew we'd just beaten Liverpool in the FA cup. But that's about it.

Hi..my first post here even though I've been reading the forums on and off. In Singapore, Everton fans are few and far between.

I usually get comments of "you're the first everton fan I ever met", although there are a few scattered around. Generally all the media coverage is of the sky 4. There is almost nothing written about the non sky 4 teams.

At least recently there has been more TV coverage of games so I do get to watch most Everton games.

But I guess having Chang as the sponsor does help the club's profile in South East Asia as it's a huge beer in Thailand and they market the beer with Arteta on the packaging!

To be fair though the same can be said for anywhere in the UK outside or Merseyside lol regarding the Sky 4 being everywhere and the odd evertonian few and far between.

But you do get the genuine football fans that talk to you rather than the fans who just follow the team/sport as a trend. It seems a common world wide "problem"/bond.

I'm slightly surprised with Spurs being mentioned. I'm guessing the southern teams are gonna be slightly more known than the northern teams who, world wide, will probably just be Man Utd and the RS.

Anyone see the crazy Real Madrid fan holding up an Everton scarf like it was his favourite team last night? That was funny.

my 'arl pink and blue away shirt has graced the padang, had a breather and an icy cold one there cos there was a cricket game on.

Aus here.
lol love the "everton's a pretty good player" comment. It's pretty much true, the average Aussie wouldn't know Everton from Xelaju MC. However the soccer community over here is pretty decent and on the up again. There's a pretty big mix of fans and I know a bunch of people who strongly support the "lesser known teams" like Blackburn and Pompey. The general consensus I've been getting from them is they all would be delighted with an Everton FA cup win!

However that said, I see more RS shirts than any other down in Aus. Probably due in part to Harry Kewell. He was an icon here while at Leeds. To be fair to him he spent most of his time in a red shirt collecting paypackets. Go Harry!

From Malaysia.

I've met 1 or 2 other Evertonians. There's a ****eload of RS and ManU supporters here with a splash of Chelsea. Lots of them are glory hunters (n)

*cough*ahem*cough* Easy Beneathus!! (n):P

I also get a whole lot of "you're the only Everton fan I've ever met" - but in doing so, lots of people have started paying attention to us and congratulating me on the teams great run of form lately...

To everyone else who is "abroad" - be proud to be a blue and speak of them when you can. that is a great way to raise our profile. Ask any of my friends (the ones who know NOTHING about football) to name an EPL club and they can all name Everton, and if asked to name another club, a few could probably come up with ManU, but I doubt any others.

While we certainly aren't close to the global brands of ManU, ****e, Madrid, Barca or the Milans or Bayern Munich- our profile is on the rise right now.

We're not a global club, when the Premierleague went global in the 90s, we had a board in Carter and Moores who refused to build a double tier stand even though most of the costs were being covered by a grant and Johnson whose big idea was to build a corner shop. We lacked ambition and vision when we needed it most. We've missed the boat and now that the initial Premierleague boom is over, any move we make will only provide a slow dripping effect, slowly adding a few fans. If we're going to go global we need years of sustained success, and ultimately Champions League football.
