I agree, but that doesn't show that we're a soft touch, it shows that we're not in a position of strength. We can kick up as much of a fuss as we want, but frankly the PL - and, perhaps more importantly, the press - don't really care. If Liverpool or United or whoever do it then they do care, and things are more likely to get done.
It's like the Richarlison article by Joyce. It's a joke, we all know it's astonishing double standards. But we're not in a position to do anything about it. If we kick off and stop talking to Joyce, do you think his employers will care? They don't need to write stories about Everton to get clicks or sell papers, if they don't have any stories to write they'll just ignore us. That will do much more harm than good for the club, so the club don't rock the boat. It's not them being soft, it's them knowing that they have no bargaining power. If Liverpool fell out with them they'd care, because all their fans in Malaysia and Nigeria and wherever else will stop going on their website and go somewhere else for stories.
The only way the PL and the media will start paying attention to us is if we make ourselves relevant through success. Something which we unfortunately look further away from than ever.
