Poured myself a Brandy and Coke with 3 mins to go.FFFIN JINX.
The same media telling us we should be thrilled at the prospect of finishing a safe 14th because that’s our place and we shouldn’t have ideas above that.We can't fume about being patted on the head by the media while telling ourselves a 3-3 draw with City was a fine outcome having blown a two-goal lead with seven minutes to play.
Games take on a life of their own. When everything went our way, we still found cruel and unusual ways to sicken our fans. Nil satis, nisi shat the bed.
I'm increasingly of the opinion that we need a new CB as well. Tarks has looked to be in marked decline to me, this season, and I know everyone is on the Keane train now but I still think he is rubbish. Not Stones, though, another crocked "classy" centre half is not what we need.
SensibleIt was an exciting match and we went toe-to-toe with them in the second half. Need to play aggressively like that more often.
There are so many flaws in the starting eleven that it's almost reassuring. Just need decent recruitment this summer...
Mostly agree mateWe have two very good young CB's but one seems to have a perpetual hamstring injury and the other is playing as a fullback.
I'm not surprised that Haaland, the most physical striker in the world, and let's face it, likely the best striker in the world, without qualification, basically scored a 60-yard NFL touchdown in 10 seconds against two CB's who are older and less mobile than him, late in the game when all are fatigued.
Tark has played a very high % of the club's minutes - it was 3 seasons ago, IIRC, when he was one of only a few outfield players to play every single minute of the season for his club. In the 83rd minute of the 35th game, yeah, he lacked the step he needed to keep up with the Norwegian freak who combines Olympic-sprinter speed with Sasquatch size and strength.
I'm not disappointed this morning. We have a payroll that's a rounding error on the sultan's spreadsheet, the City 12 through 22 squad is good enough to finish top-six, and we gave them as good as we got. If I'm disappointed in anyone, it's Ndiaye, who made inexplicably weak choices on breakaways three times. He's been subpar since AFCON, in which he played almost single minute for a side that went all the way to the final.
In retrospect if we had been blooding our younger players more coming into this game, if the likes of Iroegbunam, Alcaraz and Patterson had had more minutes under their belt, if Dibling had knocked off the rust to where he could be trusted in a big spot, we would have been better off. Our XI has been ridden like workhorses. The fact that we're failing very late in games, very late in the season, is down to that, I'm convinced.
I don't believe it was as simple as losing to Haaland in a foot race. Tarkowski himself stated how disappointed he was with conceding that goal. They were both (Tarks and Keane) poorly positioned and caught on their heels. It's not just speed of foot that is ebbing for Tarkowski, it's speed of mind. I'm not criticising him for that, age catches up with us all, I'm not even saying he needs to be completely out of the first team picture, I'm just saying that playing, as you say, so much football for us at his age in a position that is so crucial to the way we play, is unsustainable in the medium term. I'm also a little bit surprised to hear that you are not disappointed this morning. Being 3-1 up at 83 minutes and 3-2 up at 96 minutes, how can you not be at least a little bit disappointed? Despite a point being a good outcome in abstraction, surely it's human nature to be disappointed when we had the game won?We have two very good young CB's but one seems to have a perpetual hamstring injury and the other is playing as a fullback.

Mixed feelings. Many factors involved. Before the game 3-3 would have been accepted all. We could have been down to 10 men. Etc etcI don't believe it was as simple as losing to Haaland in a foot race. Tarkowski himself stated how disappointed he was with conceding that goal. The media that is not talking about the dissappearing charges against City...The same media telling us we should be thrilled at the prospect of finishing a safe 14th because that’s our place and we shouldn’t have ideas above that.
Understand... but....all things considered mateAnyone would have took a draw before the match. But it's not a good point losing 2 when your 3-1 up so late. Not for me anyway
If someone offered me a point at half time, I would've bitten their hand off, I thought we could've been on the end of a drubbing. However, after being so close, it feels like points lost and so disappointment is the overriding feeling for me this morning. We were like a completely different team in the second half.Mixed feelings. Many factors involved. Before the game 3-3 would have been accepted all. We could have been down to 10 men. Etc etc
Actually, we were not far...So near.
Yet so far.
Not arsed about Arse but relegating Spurs would be poetic justice...Coincidentally, depending on results obviously, we could be the team who handed Arsenal the title and relegated Spurs in the same season.
