Here is an idea, for set pieces, particularly with big danger men, why not depart from zonal marking?

how is the zonal marking supposed to work in that situation? Surely even in a zonal system Distin should slide to the unmarked man, especially when he happens to be their most dangerous player.

There's no way zonal marking is that flawed as a strategy, we have to be executing it incorrectly
