Benitez gift that keeps giving - Digne for Patterson and Mykolenko to 'save money'
No doubt Benitez was happy to push Digne towards the door, but lets be real: passing-through football managers do not have the final say on transfers, that's the people who have to sign the cheques (and Digne would not have agreed to leave the club unless there was a financial upside for him personally).

That whole episode was a disaster, but you can see why the club thought one out-going big earner for ~£30m to facilitate two young incoming signings for roughly the same overall amount was -in theory- good business.

Very dissappointing end to the season, season over now no european football probably finish in bottom half now after another loss v spurs next week, spurs to survive , arsenal to win the league, not much interest in next weeked now onto world cup.

Lets be brutally honest here.

We were made to look like a Sunday league team today.
They were quicker , more inventive and really comfortable on the ball.
They bossed possesion , won almost every loose ball and closed ranks in defence whenever we threatened.

This is a side full of younger players brought in from other leagues less than a year ago headed by an inventive progressive manager with no Prem experience whatsoever .

Moyes and this team were absolutely schooled today.
And its far from the first time this has happened.
