An apology was required from the manager and captain for that disaster on Saturday.

All we got was Moyes defending himself about Aznou's no-show this season on his watch and Garner pushed in front of the cameras to tell fans that the season isn't over yet.

One of the darkest days in recent history...and there have been many.

Apology for what exactly? I'm no Moyes lover but I don't see what exactly there was to apologise for but I'm sure you'll enlighten me

I will: apologise for a pathetic performance that made us look like ten bob against a team that couldn't get a win themselves in their previous 5 games and who had just as many if not more absentees through AFCON and injuries as us.

Technically they had 2 missing through AFCON as 4 of their players were back after their nations exited the competition. If you looked at their bench it had first team squad members on it apart from 1 youth player whilst we only had Barry and Aznou (both should of started) As I said I'm no fan of Moyes but I don't think any manager or captain would be apologising for going out of a cup competition on penalties to a fellow Premier League club unless you can give me an example of this happening elsewhere?

We talking about how loud the crowd was at BMD early on this season and how inspirational it was to the team.
Yeah, if enough people get off their backsides... such stadiums are just not suited to the English fan culture where support is not continuous as it is for example in the German-speaking countries

Moyes refuses to blame Everton players after shoot-out loss to Sunderland

Everton manager David Moyes refused to criticise the players who missed penalties in a 3-0 shoot-out defeat to Sunderland in the FA Cup third round.

No problem then.

It isn't really suprising we ended up losing on pens. Our record in them in all comps in my time as a supporter is shocking.

Charlton, 1987, Full Members Cup, lost.
Rangers, 1988 Dubai Super Cup, lost.
Sunderland, 1998, League Cup, lost.
Bristol Rovers, 2000, League Cup, lost.
Crystal Palace, 2001, League Cup, lost.
Newcastle, 2002, League Cup, won.
Middlesbrough, 2003, League Cup, lost.
Bristol City, 2004, League Cup, won.
Fiorentina, 2008, UEFA Cup, lost.
Man Utd, 2009, FA Cup, won.
Brentford, 2010, League Cup, lost.
Chelsea, 2011, FA Cup, won.
West Ham, 2015, FA Cup, lost.
Norwich, 2015, League Cup, won.
Southampton, 2018, League Cup, lost.
Leicester, 2019, League Cup, lost.
QPR, 2021, League Cup, lost.
Fulham, 2023, League Cup, lost.
Southampton, 2024, League Cup, lost.
Sunderland, 2026, FA Cup, lost.

Just 5 wins out of the 20 above. We've won 2 out of the last 10 and lost the last 6 in a row. Shambolic embarrassing record.
