We cannot afford (literally) to play a weakened side in what is our only real chance of success, we don’t have a squad big enough to fight for a euro place, we may have a smite of luck that allows us to get far up the FA cup to win(??????) in it, but for gods sake the idea of starting our 12th choice keeper is laughable.

He couldn’t give Aznou 2 minutes at the end of the Forest game when the lad was suited and booted waiting to come on. I’ll be amazed if he starts him here. Think it will be Grealish and Keane out Patterson and Dibling in and the rest unchanged, he’ll be feeling the pressure and will play what he thinks is our best available 11 .

Surely not.
We need him in midfield.

Patterson will start right back.

The difference between the Forest game and this is that we're at home and need to get a win. Having a Fb who can defend and get up the pitch attacking is a must. There can be no low block in this game unless we're a goal up with minutes left on the clock.

Garner has been well off it in MF too. We wont lose much from there - in fact we''ll get a boost out of Armstrong and Iroegbunam being the CMF pairing.

Patterson playing is a car crash waiting to happen.

Irrational exuberance…

If they have even attempted to speak to a proper RB to bring in, Patto will be wrapped in cotton wool and locked in the FF bogs to avoid another catastrophic injury meaning we can’t ship him of to a confused and badly run team in Europe. Moyes extremely quick the avoid confirming this was Patto’s big chance to shine.

Sunderland are without a few - other than Diarra, no idea how important they are too them

We don’t have a choice but to play a weakened side which will be the best 11 we likely have available.

We are literally missing the 4 best players in the squad (Branthwaite, Grealish, KDH and Ndiaye).

We have 2 CBs available, one of whom is also 1st choice RB. Meaning we have a 2nd (3rd choice depending on your view) RB starting.

We have 2 wingers available. McNeil and Dibling. The striker is a toss up.

The only real selection choice to make is the midfield. Where we have 4 players for 3 positions, all of whom are reasonable picks.

But the fume will be unreal if he swaps Pickford out. Even though that decision is unlikely to be the one that costs the game (barring a calamitous goalkeeper error).

least optimistic I’ve been for a game this year, hoping armstrong and dibling can provide some spark

i imagine patterson in for keane and dibling in for grealish with mcneil lining up on the left, unless he snubs dibling for rohl

i could also see beto getting the nod as barry looked knackered last game

Pickford
Myko
JOB
Tarks
Patto
Garner
Tim
McNeil
Armstrong
Dibling
Beto

Bench - Travers, King, Aznou, Rohl, Barry, Welch, Campbell, Graham, Bates.

Only real selection debate I can see because of squad depth is whether he picks Travers ahead of Pickford. And Rohl, who could play ahead of Armstrong or be used as RB instead of Patterson.

There’s literally next to no selection choices to be made.
