So let's say, hypothetically, there was no way for us to make the CL (I do think it's possible, but that doesn't matter for this hypothetical). Would you want to play in the Europa League? In my mind, it's not really worth it (lots of extra games for only a few million £s of prize money, not much extra prestige/attractiveness to players), but I was curious what the general sentiment is. I guess now that you get a CL spot for winning it's a bit more attractive, but for a squad with our depth, winning it could most likely only come at significant costs to our performance in other competitions and therefore would be incredibly risky to try.

European nights, actually most night games come to think of it, just have a different feel about them. The competition is a bit meh, but thats down to how many nomark sides are in it. And too many.

But I would be out to win the thing. Why not?

For that reason, im in, despite its mickey mouse prestige compared to the CL, it gives exposure to the Club.

I'd have us in Europe in a heartbeat, whether that be Europa League or Champions League.

Finishing 6th last year and not qualifying for anything won't happen every year but it's frustrating for me anyway that we always finish just outside the top 5, for the past few years anyway.

There's an argument that's been made that we've suffered in the league when we were in Europe a few years ago, but it's simply not true, even with less depth than we have now.

The year we played the most european games was the fiorentina year and that was also the year with our highest points total since like 1990. We haven't beaten that point total since with no europe.
