That was a great trip too. Memorable train journey from Prague. But not quite as memorable as the overnight train journey from Kiev to Kharkiv. Especially when news of Marseille beating the lovables came thru and successive carriages on the train started wobbling. Remember the police laughing like crazy when we explained why all the excitement at 2am.

Ha, I was on that overnight train as well, 3 of us in a 4 bed carriage, some ukranian fella who looked like a serial killer turned up for the 4th bed, not the best kip i've ever had!

Haha - the opposite in our 4 bed carriage. We had a really fit Ukrainian girl. She was in there and already in bed asleep when three of us crawl back from vodka and playing cards. One of my mates says out loud to us "she is f*ckin gorgeous isn't she? I mean You would wouldn't you like". At this point she opens her eyes, sits bolt upright in her bunk and says in perfect English, "thank you. But I wouldn't like though would I? ... like". We pissed ourselves laughing at my mate and ended up drinking vodka all night with her, teaching her Everton songs and laughing at our mate all night.

Europa League starts tomorrow with 50 First Qualifying Round first leg ties with the giants of Faroe Islands clashing with the likes of Dinamo Minsk.
The good news for us is that 4 of the 5 seeded teams in each pot got home legs first. So, originally 40 of the 50 were drawn away second leg - so perhaps a few more weaker teams might progress. It seems there were some switches (in some cases from really weak teams wanting to play the home leg first perhaps.. (Faroes, Gibraltar, San Marino) or maybe a clash. But in any event 34 seeds are home first leg.. updates tomorrow or Friday.

Wanna go to an away this time around was probs too young 2014/15, how much yous reckon it would cost me and a mate all in all?

Love Euro aways, had some absolute belting trips. BUT, we really need to start doing some damage on the pitch.

Just looking at these aways as a "good trip" should not be what we are aiming for.

Depends who we get. Megabus is probably the cheapest way to travel, you can get a return ticket to northern Europe, ie Paris, Lille brugges etc for a pound each way if you book early enough. If you want accommodation, youth hostels are cheap. Or get a cheap hotel on booking.com or last-minute.com.

When do we know the potential five we can play? Is it the morning of the draw?

I'm not 100% sure.
I assume it cannot be done until the day due to the fact they wouldn't be able to allocate teams (i.e. Ukraine Vs. Russia and same nation clash), until all the games were completed surely?

So i expect it'll be on the day, but i'm not sure when.

I love that we are back in Europe, but hate how the competition has been devalued by FIFA and is used as a consolation for the CL rejects.

50 matches (35 seeded teams at home in first legs) will join 16 pre-qualifiers in the 2nd round - the draw for the second round has already been made (with a lot of either/ors in the line-up)

Meanwhile what we need to know is how strong might our 3rd round opponent be. Therefore we are interested in the progress of the 21 sides that are seeded for round 2 (joining 12 seeded sides already pre-qualified) - if they lose their unseeded 1st Round opponent will inherit their seeding and this makes the 2nd round a bit weaker.

Results so far:

Home:
Beitar Jerusalem won 4-3 over Vasas (Hungary)
Trencin (Slov) won 5-1
AEK Larnaca beat Lincoln (Gib) 5-0
Dinamo Minsk only won 2-1 against a team from The Faroes
Ventspils were held 0-0 vs Valur of Iceland
Soligorsk of Belarus were held 0-0 by a team from Lithuania (Suduva)

Odd (Norway) beat Ballymena 3-0

Away:
Slovan Bratislava won 4-1
Altach of Austria won 1-0

The other 12 results later
