We finished 8th or better repeatedly when in Europe in the previous decade, what needs to be done, is stop using it as an excuse to play bad football on the weekend, man up and put the effort in required to win our league games as well as playing in Europe.

How about trying to win the only competition we can realistically win? The league cup, something we are not going to do if we are stuck in that. The point of existing is to win things, not to just compete.

I don't know where you get your 4 from, you mean 2. The league cup starts early in the season, its well under way before the FA Cup starts and even that is spread out single games played on a weekend that we are free at premiership football. Yes we do have a better chance of winning a pot when we are playing in 2 competitions at a time.

If we get the fair play place our season starts on 2nd July. It's a waste of time, we made around 5 mil in it this year but lost 12mil in league placing.
Europa league needs to lose the CL team. Only way to make it fair

That lose in £ is going to hit us this summer, you can add onto that sum the drop in season ticket sales revenue as a result of people fed up with what they have witness from Martinez's team. No chance of picking up any 28m players this summer.

As for the League Cup, it is embarrassing that a club of our so called size & standing has never won it !!!

Europa no, but we know that, FA cup well yeah obviously but Roberto cant multi task as both Everton and Wigan have found out. If we start making things harder for ourselves than they already are we really will stagnate. This season has been a disaster, it is vital we bounce back, if we have back to back poor seasons we could easily find ourselves stuck and all the progress over the last decade lost.

We're "stuck" in the Premier League with no realistic chance of ever winning it alongside the 15 other teams that also make up the numbers...should we just not bother with that too?

Why can't we realistically win the Europa League ? I don't understand this. On our day we are as good as anyone in that competition. Our current squad proved it this season that we can go toe to toe with decent european clubs. Didn't quite work out well in the end but all season we had been playing with well below average confidence.

I honestly see no reason at all why we can't win The Europa League ( a cup competition )
