Europa Cup Group Stages

Hmm....those were the days......

*remembers the 'old days'*

I miss them too.

We need to create some old days now I reckon.

Our chances... Three years ago for example we beat Milan and Lille in CL group stage and lost the qualification in the last game (when Milan decided to use subs and Lille beat them). Unfortunately the team is not that good now. We rate ourselves as the third force in the group, but with chances to qualify because Everton and Benfica are historical teams with good players but not top european teams.

I believe the two first games will be crucial (Everton away-Benfica home). We got very talented players offensively (Argentinians Scocco and Blanco for example) and if they get their chances they will score.
I believe that our problem is in the defense area right one, although we will get another defender.

Can you tell me how many visiting fans can come to Goodison Park?

A couple of thousand mate.

I went on that Benfica site, the majority were sound with me. Sorry Sotnas.

They said about banana on pizza though, Im still in a bit of shock I think.

Is it one of those registration type site things, you know, credit card details, but the first month free, and all that?

Heard about them.

Fetish weirdo's

L Werder Bremen, Austria Vienna, Athletic Bilbao, Nacional

I'm happy we didn't end up in group L. Bremen is a very strong side, Athletic Bilbao is a good spanish side and Nacional eliminated Zenit and that's not an easy feat.

The more I look at our group, the more I like it. Can't wait for the groups to start playing.

Benfica will be two very tough games, especially in The Stadium of Light.

AEK & BATE will be tough on their patch too.

We have to get off to a good start and build momentum early.

Sorry about those guys in our forum that wrote that stupid song...

He is a Liverpool fan...so there´s nothing we can do...but most benfica fans welcome you there!
;)

About sotnas being a Sporting fan, I personally have no problem with that...
We are rivals, but that doesn´t mean we can´t be friends...i have many Porto and some Sporting friends!

Força Benfica
Go Everton

My own father's a red shoite fan. Thank God I stepped forward on the evolution scale.:D

Can't watch football with him, though.

Our goalkeeper is [Poor language removed]!
Total [Poor language removed]!

But our center backs are top!

We have 4 great centerbacks...Luisão, David Luiz, Sidnei and Miguel Vitor!
Trust me!

our full backs are also good...Maxi Pereira on the right...but he´s injured now...too bad...
Shaffer is a good atacking left back...but defends poorly...that´s probably our main problem!

C'mon, be honest with the lads here. Luisão is utter crapp, Sidnei is dodgey, David Luís is not the most agile player and Miguel Vitor is still a kid learning his trade.

The full backs are crap also.

Benfica has signed a very good manager and some very good footballers (on the paper, at least).

But the defence will be their downfall this season. They're strong going forward but their defence is very, very dodgey.

Hi all,

Benfica fan here from PlanetBenfica UK (slbenfica.co.uk).

I'm glad we got Everton! For one it's quite close to me so no problems with work etc, but also because I follow the premiership and I hate Liverpool, do I need to continue? :D

Looking forward to visiting Goodison, a mate has been there before and said it was excellent.

Some of our fans think they have this 'link' with Liverpool (glorious past shameful present et al), but I can't stand it to be honest, i really don't see the appeal to singing YAWN. I just hope they don't do it at Goodison cuz I really hate that song and you wont find me singing that.

If you need to know anything from the Lisbon side i'll be happy to help. We got a toffee on our forum doing just that, so you can check it out if you wish (y)

Good luck against Wigan.

Regards.

Hello from Greece.
I'm an AEK fan and I also support Everton in England.

Some things about tickets etc.
Prices are a bit higher than said earlier.
For example in yesterday's game the cheapest ticket was at 25 Euros, there were at 40 Euros (for the stands in the middle) and there were some at 70 Euros (near the VIPs, I don't suppose you want to go there :P )

I don't believe that you will get in without any ticket. You have to show your ticket twice before entering. AEK is very organized in this. Unless of course you are going to barge in, in numbers.

I can't tell you about the attendance expected because it will the be near the end of the group stage.
For example if it was the first game I'd say about 40.000 or more. This means that any Greek guy can go and buy a ticket before the game in most matches. However I'm not sure that an Everton fan will be let to sit among Greek fans for security reasons. Although Greek fans have a bad reputation, this goes for domestic matches. There is not much history of trouble in european games (except when we were visiting the scum of Paris Saint Germain). You should be a bit careful (especially if you get drunk), but not any reason to fear for anything more.

As it goes for the team, last year was a terrible year for us. The next few days we will try to sign some more players to cover for our problems. Like Everton we sold our best defender at the last moment (Kyrgiakos to your rivals).
Thanks for your input, but our best defender is injured, 2nd best is the one who got sold!!!
Since I am from Poland I was hoping that I could see Roger Guerreiro playing against Everton, but he's cuptied, so no luck for me.
