Nobody likes saying it any more, but it's blatantly obvious what the case here is, so I'll just come out and say it.

He's one of those "I hate foreigners" types and wants to return to the rose-tinted specs days of the 50s or whatever, when Great Britain meant White Britain.

At least EFCNik was honest about it.

And no, I'm not saying all 'Leavers' are that way inclined, but in this case it's obvious what's going on.

Careful, you might be accused of calling him an idiot and then his Out vote becomes your responsibility. That is how it works?

You sound like the EU, in denial.

It's crumbling and I'll bet that most other Countries, given a referendum would vote leave too but as per their statement, you better be very careful trying to leave or we'll have you by the short and curly' s, like they think they've got us now, that is their message to the rest of Europe and that is bullying.
Not being able to make a decision on your own judgement because you're being threatened is bullying.

Tell me mate - what possible reason do the EU have to bend over for us?

They're looking out for their own interests, which they are fully entitled to do. Again, how is that 'bullying'?

Aren't we "bullying" them by saying we won't accept free movement but demanding the single market? Or are you incapable of seeing it the other way?

It's priceless that he's basically just did that the post before yours.

I just call a spade a spade. When they are twisted in knots trying to hide their own innate bigotry, then it's not really debate anymore.

It is not for MPs give away powers. Those powers do not belong to them.

Do you seriously think our government should be able to make the UK a state within the USA without the peoples consent?

Make your mind up.

A Sovereign Parliament have all the powers afforded to them under our Parliamentary Democracy. If they vote to ban football, they could. If they wanted to become the 53rd State of the US, they could. Subject to the normal checks and balances.

But ultimately, even if the HOL blocked and blocked and blocked, the HOC could invoke the Parliament Act, and pass what the hell they wanted.

But you dont want that now, it appears.

No of course not. Something so fundamental would have to be In their manifesto on which they'd been elected. They'd need a mandate.

I want my country to be an independent sovereign nation. Why would I want them to give away the independence or sovereignty? If people voted for that OK. But I'm pretty certain that people don't want that.

I'm not asking the EU to bend over for us, both sides have to be sensible about it without the bitterness.

If it was kept the way it started, ie for trade only, then fair enough, it was a good idea, but they have slowly taken the proverbial.

You said it yourself, they're looking after their own interests, not the people they claim to represent.

So if a party was elected with that in its manifesto, you would be happy to go along with it then?

Our Parliament making our Laws and all that.

OK then.

Tory Manifesto.

'We are clear about what we want from Europe. We say: yes to the Single Market. Yes to turbocharging free trade. Yes to working together where we are stronger together than alone. Yes to a family of nation states, all part of a European Union – but whose interests, crucially, are guaranteed whether inside the Euro or out.'

Do they have a mandate for this then, or do you just cherry pick what suits you?
