So having caused absolute mayhem across Europe with her migration policy, the stupid cow is seeing her career going down the pan so decides to do what was advised right at the beginning........

Germany's interior ministry reportedly wants people seeking international protection stopped at sea and returned to north Africa to then apply for asylum in the EU.
A spokesperson for the ministry told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper on Sunday (6 November) that the plan would save lives and undermine a lucrative smuggling trade.
“The goal must be to remove the basis for people-smuggling organisations and to save migrants from the life-threatening journey," she said.
The ministry, headed by Thomas de Maiziere, wants to offload the application process to states like Egypt or Tunisia in a move that resembles Australia's controversial asylum policy.

I love the way it's now presented 'to save migrants from a life-threatening journey'........the two faced, lying, despicable piece of crap....

But initiating article 50 is not making a law, it's about starting a process, so there is no hypocrisy between the two statements......unless you can show different.......

It's totally about the sovereignty of parliament - in the case of A50, the sovereignty of Parliament over the will of the executive.

Incredible. So, on the one hand you have a woman who in the face of a serious humanitarian situation showed perhaps the only ounce of leadership in the entire continent (and certainly more than Cameron), not to mention a huge dose of just basic decency.

On the other, you have May who has flip flopped on her Goldman Sachs speech in a major way, Johnson who has flip flopped on his Turkey accession nonsense in a major way, both seemingly for political ends rather than any core belief either way.

Hmm, which of those two will Pete put his lot behind I wonder? Amazing. I know who I regard as a better representative of the human race, and it certainly isn't May and Johnson.

Merkel is a disaster , sooner have May any day of the week and have never voted tory in my life.
Sooner have May than Abbot, Thornberry or Corbyn for that matter , bet you like them as well.

You know I'm not a Labour voter, but Merkel is a beacon of hope in Europe imo, as she's surrounded by populists to the east, and wets to the west.

Merkel was embarrassed on TV when she told that child 'but you can't all come here'. She then did a 180 degree turn, but did it in a fashion so stupid that it has caused the deaths of thousands, created tensions within the Eu and the building of walls and razor wire and given more oxygen to the far right than anyone thought possible. The woman is a complete disaster. Right from the beginning, if she wanted to bring people in she could have set it up in north Africa in a safe environment and then flown the refugees directly into Germany. It has been a shambles, an unmitigated disaster both for Europe and the poor Refugees.

Being all nice and fluffy and wearing your heart on your sleeve while causing chaos doesn't always get the result you want. Sometimes having a more stand back and dispassionate approach is actually the best way to deal with delicate issues. I would take the considered approach by May every time over the chaos launched by Merkel........

Whether you agree with him or not, for a young guy he's handled himself commendably on this thread. That kind of jibe isn't called for imo.

Bruce, it's an absolutely fair comment.

Merkel has clung on too long and to do so, she has made deals and concessions with groups that now risk tanking Germany in a way that may be irreparable. For people to be saying 'hur hur hur you must mean Le Pen' (easy to get them confused eh, one being the most powerful woman in the world until tonight and German, the other being French and, er, not) betrays a completely simplistic view of things.
