I agree that the way the EU went about the Lisbon Treaty was poor.

But I think a country that has been able to build its economy on the basis of being able to attract massive companies to base there because it's in the single market, is better off in the EU than outside.

Like Google, Amazon and I am sure you knopw of the other obliging companies. But for me you ignore the ever increasing control Brussels is exercising over member states. Your thinking is to narrow.

Nope, I wanted us to stay in and reform massively, but reform or not, the Irish have been able to attract the backbone of their economy because of their status in the EU.

I'd be the first to demand democratic reform within the EU.

The BBC did not mention money as a sweetener wrong again they gave sanarios no mention of an actual cash insentive th e word may was used the were many other reasons too you forgot to post as usual as it's great news!
Itv news no sweetener was used just our growing economy in the future outside the EU!

Nissan is good news. BBC News pointing out that it took a bit sweetener.

I hope they can afford it for all car manufacturers and other business.

Surely a bit of a sweetner as you claim is better than saying goodbye to the thousands of jobs

Rubbish, Eire sets it's business tax well lower than the rest of the EU states hence Google etc use that as their base fro tax avoidance.

I wonder if we dropped out CT to 12% would you say we have been able to attract the backbone of our economy?

Sweeteners happen in almost all business deals to some degree. They happened before brexit and they'll happen after brexit.

I support brexit myself but I've decided it's best to wait it out and see tangible successes it brings. People will be won round in time I've no doubt.

Then one could also say the tax rates of Eire, Luxembourg are sweetners?

There are plenty of countries with low tax rates. Why not Cayman? Iceland? Macedonia? Uzbekistan? Qatar?

What has Ireland got..?
