Have they bullied or bribed the Walloon people to accept CETA yet........

Well it will be quite interesting. It appears that Magnette isn't happy with the new proposals. So if he wasn't under pressure, he would never sign the agreement.

Problem is Wallonia is a bit like [since I don't want to offend people fill in the name of any impoverished part of the UK, they've struggled with the change in industry], they receive many billions of the North of the country and they are also a beneficiary of some of the support funds of the EU (in absolute numbers it's not a lot since well there is only 3 million of them). Now everybody is twisting their arm a bit; so it will be interesting.

But honestly this isn't a good argument against the EU. Au contraire.

I fully expect the deal to be done, and I fully expect money to change hands from the EU to Wallonia, either via the normal support type funds, via the CAP or just a straight brown envelope.....it'll be done Monday......

I'm not sure any more. The thing is he has a lot to lose. The parti socialiste is under pressure because they are in danger of losing their (long held for decades) dominant position to the communist party. If he gives in they will lose even more credibility. He manoeuvred himself in a position where he can only lose. Possibly some money. Or endanger the dominant position in the next election.

The EU's credibility is going down the toilet with CETA, either Wallonia will take the usual 'pursuasion' or someone will go missing.........personally I think it's hilarious.........

Hmmm I'm guessing Verhofstadt isn't your best friend, cause he has a solution. I think you should follow his twitter feed, would be very good for your blood pressure.

I love Verhofstadt, if we ever wanted to paint a picture of why we should want to leave the EU, it would be his face. Don't get me wrong, he knows what he wants, a United States of Europe with everything that goes with it...and I respect him for his honesty....it's just that, well, we don't........

I understand and respect that. We have got the same thing going here with Boris Johnson and Davies. This can only make for highly amusing negotiations. I would pay to be a spectator.
