Yes 2&1/4 years of negotiations to go the fear campaign continues!
Scotland wants independence yet relies on 65 percent of our exports from the U.K. It's pure bluff by the red headed one, and Spain and France are not keen on Scotland joining the EU reports state?
Also the is no appetite from the majority of Scotland to have another independence referendum!

I think Sturgeon will have her card marked by those in Scotland and by some Eu members as you say. It will take time, and she will pick a fight over the weather, but it will dawn on her eventually. Eire will adopt a sensible position with the Uk because it understands who it's real friends are.......

Their beef industry is less competitive than ours now because of the weaker pound, their exports to the uk are relatively substantial I believe.

Then the Irish Republic should bend the ears of those in Brussels......and as Britain hasn't been hit by any tumult perhaps they should stop panicking......

Yeah it's quite amazing how much Ireland depends upon the UK. I read somewhere that the UK takes 40% of all farm output, about 55% of all beef output and 60% of all pork output.........

I see that Cleggy is trying to predict that food will become more expensive, one of the papers has referred to him as Mystic Clegg.....made me smile.......
Given the pound has tanked and we import more than 50% of our food, it's hardly a prediction that's a punt is it?

More a statement of obvious fact

Even then it's got a few nuances to it. Lots of stuff from Spain is priced in £'s apparently so the poor old Spanish farmers are taking a hit already......

Which isn't sustainable and just means the pain has been kicked down the road until the supermarket deals that have so far largely protected the consumer end, and are renegotiated. The supply chain can't take the pain of the pound tanking indefinitely

Depends on if they can sell their produce elsewhere for more money. If they can, they will, if they can't then they won't..... there are lots of countries growing produce......

Yeah mate Johnny Foreigner will be queuing up to sell their goods to us, swallow the near 20% devaluation in the pound and be grateful for it.

The fact that we import more than half of what we eat and the pound has tanked, means that food costs will increase, to deny this is what's going to happen is plain delusional

No one is denying that prices may rise.....why do you use terms like Johnny Foreigner, are you racist ? Why do you assume that people will not sell to us, do you understand that as long as they are not losing money then any contribution to margin is welcome. Things that are priced in other currencies may well go up in price, or they may not depending upon whether the producer is willing to take a hit or whether we, as consumers, are prepared to pay it. Your black and white, doom and despondency viewpoint never seems to consider alternatives.........

You thought Clegg predicting the obvious fact that food prices will rise and being called 'mystic Clegg' by some unamed newspaper (undoubtedly some right wing rag) was amusing. Therefore you were challenging the basic premise of what he said by default.

How can a supply chain swallow the thick end of a 20% margin dip?

You lose all credibility when you start trying to deny the patently obvious in relation to this debate. You're a staunch leave supporter, but the crashing pound will mean imports will go up in price, it's simple economics, a crashing currency and a trade deficit = inflation.
