On the subject of 'experts'. At the drop of a hat experts are wheeled out on tv and radio. Problem I have is they all seem familiar. I've seen experts wheeled out as terrorism experts and I'm sure turn up as economic experts a few weeks later. I haven't followed this up with detailed research but hopefully some will get on to what I am saying.
There are obviously some who are credible who are professors and professionals, but some, you just have to accept the line at the bottom of the screen, which I don't.

It's not that these experts are doubling up, that would be too silly. It's that they work for (or have affiliations with) Thinktanks which have paid-up agendas, so when one of them turns up at a mass media outlet to profer 'expert' analysis, he/she is merely forwarding the main agenda of whatever thinktankian organisation they are affiliated with.

Bit of background: my ex, a liberal with ambition, ended up working at a Conservative-righted thinktank and was often in moral dire straits at the guff she was writing, which while still very much her own words, had to mirror a certain direction. It's like she was compromising her core beliefs to further her career, and grimly aware of it too as the benefits (not just pay) were that she could also work on things close to her heart through the organisation's influence (in her case women's rights in certain Islamic countries).

Don't believe anything you're told, work it out for yourself, come to your own conclusions.

Aye, deffo my philosophy too. Become much more obvious since the migrant waves of last Autumn (all those pictures of sad wide-eyed children).

I'd add that most of these 'experts' you read or watch analysis of aren't necessarily telling lies, they are telling truths generally, but they're often not telling the whole truth, which is preventing the reader/viewer from being able to work things out for themselves.

It's then a challenge first to figure out what info/viewpoint might be missing, and then where to find it. Most people can't be arsed, tho'. Doesn't stop them getting 'passionate' and then hating on someone with a different opinion.

People, innit.

You need to pay more attention before you think you're clever enough to deliver snide digs.

You appear to have missed the point of my post, again.

As for 'propaganda', it is only so when it is in use, once discovered it reverts to its true form which is, a lie.

If you say you were aware it was a lie and think it of no significance, then that is your measure.

Brexit should be a catalyst for change, the slant you place on it only serves to reinforce the whipping hand.
Ok Jezza!
I see the experts have vilified him of his cover up of anti semitism in his party the fact Shami report got her a baronies title, and on his front bench within 12 months of joining his party Urm smells a rat !

Or just keep on avoiding questions you don't like answering ;)

I think you have issues.

What questions? You went off on a tangent to my original post like a polaris and now accuse me of avoiding stuff. Really lid?

Have a lie down or a sanatogen or something but do please stop prattling on about nothing.

Do you think both sides of the argument were aired in the debate itself?

I saw two arguments, but I'm not sure I saw anyone try to understand the opposite view. I never once heard 'you make a good point and I hadn't thought of that', which would have been nice and, I think, might also have gained some votes......

You seem to have the MOMENTUM in your reasoninglol
you hate being proved wrong - it's you who's got issues imo!

Seriously Joey, take a bit more time with what you write, plenty of people find it hard to understand :)

-and i'm not talking about your support for corporate fascism x
Its fair to say as a socialist I get branded as a fascist - a few on here love having a go but hey oh gets my anger attacks out from which I suffer from - its a thread of controversy over the EU referendrum result which some people on here on new years eve I would have hated to dance with as they don't know their ins from their OUTS!lol

Battle of Hastings latest: You lost, get over it, Normans tell Anglo-Saxons

Supporters of the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy have told those loyal to Anglo-Saxon King Harold II to stop moaning and accept the outcome of the Battle of Hastings.

The victory for William’s Norman forces was absolute, though many Anglo-Saxons still refuse to accept the result.

“I get that the Normans won, but they lied in the run-up to the battle, and ever since they got that narrow victory the country has gone down the toilet,” explained Anglo-Saxon, Harold Matthews.

“Back in 1066 the country was on the brink of something amazing, we were leading the world in farming, barn construction and rudimentary milling.

“Yet here we are now 950 years later down to the fifth largest economy in world, behind one country that didn’t even exist 500 years ago.

“That only happened because we let the Normans take over.”

However, Norman descendent Simon Williams told us, “Bloody hell, those Anglo-Saxons need to get over it, they lost fair and square. It wasn’t even close.

“It’s time to accept the result and shut up about it. I doubt people will be moaning about Brexit in a thousand years.”

“Yes we bloody will,” added Harold.
