That's a bit crazy, Pete, given the Brexit rationale of taking back control, being sovereign etc. Becoming a part of Trump, or the next Trumps dominion doesn't seem to sit right with the reasons we were told to leave.

That's a bit crazy, Pete, given the Brexit rationale of taking back control, being sovereign etc. Becoming a part of Trump, or the next Trumps dominion doesn't seem to sit right with the reasons we were told to leave.

A certain type of Englishman has always been contemptuous of Europe because the UK could only be one of the three leading powers rather than outright coloniser, but has no problem whatsoever being cuckolded by America. Something to do with a delusional idea of "kith and kin". In this mindset, the UK is Salacious Crumb to the American Jabba Trump.

It's one thing for somebody to believe that the UK should be "sovereign" in its international affairs (even if no such thing truly exists for single countries). It's a valid, if naively idealistic, point of view...until it collapses on its knees in front of the American crotch.
