As @peteblue tells us, Germany is in terrible trouble, lads, and the UK is far better off outside the EU...

"UK GDP in Q4 2023 was 1.0% above its pre-pandemic level of Q4 2019. This compares with Eurozone GDP being 3.0% higher, with GDP in Germany up by 0.1%. The other G7 economies had higher growth than the UK over this period, including the US where GDP was 8.2% higher."

We're winning, woop!

It’s all about comparisons with similar size and type of country. Japan who was referenced in the German comparison is a bit of a basket case in terms of GDP even though it has a population roughly 40 million more than Germany and roughly double that of the U.K. yet Japan only has a third more GDP. Of course Japans working age population has declined from about 87 million in the mid nineties to about 73 million now, what does that tell us about their demographics. The U.K. GDP per head of population is slightly lower than Germany and slightly more than France, cliff edge fall anyone……

It's probably worth noting that Brexit didn't just shoot us in the foot, it shot our friends and trading partners in the EU too.

It was a really stupid decision, based upon lies delivered by charlatans.

So us leaving the EU brought the EU down, what about Japan did Brexit put them into recession as well. Or perhaps Covid, the money spent on it, inflation, wfh, etc etc may just have played a part. What about the times the U.K. and others had recessions over the last 50 years while we were in the EU, must have been the threat of Brexit I suppose……
