Slavery in the UK
Modern slavery still thrives in Britain today, with up to 13,000 estimated to be victims of trafficking. Find out how people end up in slavery in the UK.www.antislavery.org

The restrictions preventing asylum seekers from working while their case is being heard is a significant factor as they have no means to support themselves. This can be especially difficult if they're indebted to those who helped bring them to the UK.
So you fully and totally agree that the Rwanda insanity is bloody minded vengeful nastiness from a party of thieves famous for such?Yet you believe there is no illegal immigration, what would you call the above, seriously. I agree with you regarding support or lack of it after the event for those who have been trafficked. But the whole situation, the transport into U.K., work performed and the after effects is based on and run by criminal activity. The way to stop the above is to stop it happening in the first place, not just to manage the human cost afterwards…..
Your argument is like saying that we have a lot of incidences of rape in this country so we need to crack down on women. I said before, if Sunak wants to "stop the boats", all he needs to do is make it possible to claim asylum at any UK embassy. That way people can have safe passage rather than spending huge sums risking their lives to do so. Why do you think he doesn't want to do that?Yet you believe there is no illegal immigration, what would you call the above, seriously. And it's worth pointing out that the likes of Anti Slavery UK actively point out that most people who are victims of modern slavery don't come forward precisely because the attitude of the authorities is like that of Pete and will criminalise the victim. It's utterly absurd and inhumane.Your argument is like saying that we have a lot of incidences of rape in this country so we need to crack down on women. Unless they’re from Hong Kong. Parts of Bristol are now having to cope with a huge influx. Schools and NHS under increasing pressure. Somehow the government don’t see this as a problem.
.. Bristol? lolwestern, liberal, crime-ridden cesspit.
stop running down britain, pete doesn't like that sort of thing! That's a unique situation, though... Hong Kong was one of the last British overseas territories, and a significant one at that. The UK Government made a promise to protect Hong Kongers rights for 50 years...
It's ironic that they have left one of the safest and most civilized major cities on earth, and moved to a western, liberal, crime-ridden cesspit.

They can come from anywhere Pete and so can slave masters, but if they don't come to the UK via a legal route (what are they you might ask) then they are 'illegal'.Slaves you say, where do they come from and who are the slave masters….
Well, no! The UK in general, I meant... Although Bristol is liberal
That said, are Hong Kongers only moving to the wealthiest parts of the UK? If so, are we just giving their rich citizens access to second homes and university accommodation for their children?? Are they really fleeing persecution? Those moving here are jumping out of an imagined frying pan, into a very real fire.
'Liberals' are in my experience the most intolerant people I have met. They KNOW what I am supposed to believe, say and write, and any divergence from their 'right-on' beliefs will lead to excoriation, isolation or as happened this lady, punishment.
The media in Ireland is full of these types who shove their beliefs down our throats, and failure to follow their message makes one a pariah.
In this regard at least, I think the likes of @peteblue, @davek and I can agree. I am happy to debate openly and honestly with people with different views, but I will not force mine on them. The world would be a much nicer place if we could simply allow people to think for themselves without fear of retribution.
