We laugh but it’s Exactly that type of exceptionalism that’s brought us here .
Honestly the only way to laugh at the situation is like in "The Dictator":

I think you’ve missed the point we want our citizens to be exempt but nobody else’s , we want visa free travel only for us and we want proper passport checks but not on us.

Not difficult to follow .
That's the maddening thing, isn't it? Free movement is a wonderful thing and it's a wonderful thing precisely because it works both ways. That said, it is sad how some of the Nordic nations have been approaching immigration lately. Denmark has been particularly poor.

I think you are all missing the point and show no compassion. My comment was not directed at rules or visas or free movement, this is about a poor woman who is bedridden with Alzheimer’s in a care home with her closest family also living there. A bureaucratic excuse is being utilised to expel this poor woman. It’s a disgrace and anyone defending Sweden over this matter should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves…..

If Britain was doing similar to, say, a Windrush generation migrant who had lived and made a life in Britain, but was subject to the whims of an unthinking and cruel regime we'd all be as outraged.

Not that there's any connection.

I wonder how Braverman would deal with the case.

Rules are rules Pete.

You can’t have your cake and eat it…

It’s horrible and i can’t imagine the pain her family are going through but every single person deported has a family and every person has their own story . Of course there are exceptions but in almost every cause one or many people are traumatised.

I agree that Sweden is acting quite shamefully in this situation, but the UK also acted shamefully by voting to give Sweden the ability to do it.

Let's also not forget that there are many instances of the UK deporting people it didn't want under the misnomer of 'Illegal immigrants"

It may not have been what was intentionally voted for in Brexit, but it was pretty obvious that what we wanted to do to others, others would do us.

Hope Sweden change their mind on this one though
