Christ! Have you tried to import any irony since we left the EU. My God, the shipping costs alone, and don’t mention the additional paperwork. They were fighting over pitiful amounts of it in our Sainsbury’s last week.

Well for one water companies are allowed to dump waste on the beaches and pollute them so much they are unsafe to swim in ?

Yep there appears to be several EU laws we no longer have to follow which are a detriment to the UK, I was wondering what the ones are that will make the UK a better place to live?

@peteblue has mentioned them a few times but has never been able to state exactly which laws these are though - I am genuinely curious as to what they are, just to provide some balance to the discussion

Well rather than go through yet another backwards and forwards debate on minutiae such a bendy bananas, weights and measures or other trivia, which I’m sure you would rather discuss, it’s about supremacy of Law. We have retained EU law which sits on the statute book and is under review. There is comment suggesting about 2,400 laws will be removed or amended to fit better for the U.K. with retained EU law coming to an end at the end of 2023. This is all about who sets our laws and Law supremacy…….

basically, you want movement of goods without movement of people.

I am not concerned about movement of people, apart from the illegal movement of people. For me, I didn‘t want to be part of a United States of Europe with control and laws emanating out of Brussels. I don’t even know why this debate continues, we are out and by the end of the 2023 will have removed EU law from our statute books. All of our efforts should be directed to making the U.K. work again and stop with the romanticising of how wonderful the Eu was supposed to have been. We are more than capable of standing on our own two feet and working with and trading with the rest of the world…..

But there never was a United States of europe and there never will be.
five years ago you bet 100 pounds that by 2023 all EU members would use the Euro, all would be a part of Schengen, a single EU army would be the primary military force and there would be a single tax policy across the union.
None of that has happened.
