Let's not forget that since the vote, we have had to change the PM, the Cabinet Ministers have changed and the Government, who shamefully hadn't even prepared for a Brexit vote, is now having to put together an exit negotiating strategy. Talks have been opened with a raft of countries, but nothing can be moved forward while we remain in the EU. The vote only took place 3 months ago.......

LSE have been advising the government on brexit, they've been informed that advice will only be welcome from UK nationals

lol

This story is kinda what I mean Pete. That's not the actions of a government that is outward looking and open to the world. It's all very little England unfortunately. I've no doubt that they have an awful lot on their plate (although it still amazes me that leave campaigners did so without any real thought given to what leaving might actually entail), but that plate is only going to get fuller.

I just hope they're playing to the gallery and are doing the opposite of what their rhetoric suggests.

The EU to propose free rail travel all over Europe up to 18 years of age cost 2 billion per year where's that money coming from?
A rotten to the core bribe to upset the U.K.?
They spend money they simply do not have at least we will be rid of them in 2 years!
Being 8.5 billion better off, and controlling our own affairs from these polictical nut cases!

It will only get worse as they try to bring in yet more economic basket case countries to puff up the ego of this new Superstate......

At least they can get on with it without being distracted by an effective opposition.......*pulls pin......

It's all going belly up (from my perspective anyway). As someone that's both economically and socially liberal, it seems at the moment that the Tories are veering leftwards economically (big state, more intervention), and rightwards socially (immigrants are bad). Hard to think of a worse outcome from my perspective.

The EU propose a policy that encourages integration and progression of its youth at a cost of 2 billion.

The UK agree on a policy (renewal of trident) a devisive, somewhat indicative of these rule Britiania, xenophobic times at a cost of 203 billion.

From a social and moral viewpoint we will be a far poorer nation for the leaving of the EU.

This has played right into the hands of Theresa May and her long term utter hatred of the EU human rights bill. From a social outlook, irrespective of economics, this is gonna bring a world of pain our way.

In terms of that story, I would think that is a very sensible approach. This is not a case of little Englander but one of vested interests and national security. The EU will not be taking advice or welcoming anyone from the UK into their confidence.....

I think you might be slightly over egging the pudding......

CND figures ?........

I haven't seen any evidence of immigration causing wage deflation, and I live in Elephant & Castle, which has a huge Afro Caribbean and Latino community, all of which add to the flavour of the place.

I mean do people complain that curry houses and kebab shops have replaced chippies? There's a whole lot to love in the world :)
Maybe that's why you don't have a problem with it. The majority seemingly would disagree with you.

Freedom of movement is a 2 way street. Losing it means we also lose our freedom to live and work across the EU.

This freedom was something that a large percentage of the young voters didn't want to lose

The focus of the debate around freedom of movement was on fear, xenophobia and sensationalism. The fact that our economy has benefitted net from it was largely ignored.
Of course it's a two way thing.

Most poorer people have no intention of moving to the EU to work. Most well off people will have no problem getting VISAs.

It's not an issue for people living here.

Of course it's an issue, hence the reason it was one of the prime drivers for the young voters

Obtaining work visas etc isn't freedom of movement as there's no guarantee they'll be granted when we've finished cocooning ourselves off from the rest of Europe

They'll react well when they realise that more than half of the immigrants to this country arrive from outside the EU as it stands, and we'll need more not less, arriving in the future if we're to have an expanding economy.....

Who will they blame once the Romanians have stopped arriving?
