Jesus Christ, educate yourself on the topic first, this arrangement is for people with no pre booked accommodation and open ended tickets, we have the same system in place in the U.K. and it’s been there for years, it’s merely a check to ensure you can sustain yourself whilst in the country… it’s not stating that’s a minimum everybody should have.
Precisely. And it is what the majority of those who voted in the referendum voted for. They voted to shoot themselves in the foot head.

Then surly it’s these people who should have to prove they have the means to sustain a prolonged stay and not a blanket catch all for everyone. Plus isn’t that what holiday insurance is for.
It’s always been the rule though … for years .. it’s only highlighted now as the journalist has sensationalised it and made it sound like it’s something new.. it isn’t… and every country has the same system in place whereby if you have an extended stay you must be able to prove you can sustain yourself

Genuine question, as I’ve said previously I voted to remain, but do you think this policy would’ve come into being if we’d voted to remain, because surly this policy does not just effect the UK but visitors from all countries.

Does it matter, not sure it does just a sovereign country actually taking control as it sees fit.

The policy has always been there … that’s the whole point I’ve been trying to make to you mate

i have always known there’s a tourism tax usually paid on arrival at your hotel, but this “ we want proof that you can sustain yourself financially if you stay longer than anticipated “ is new to me. But there you go, as the saying goes everyday is a learn day.

If the UK had voted remain, you wouldn't be impacted by the policy. This is standard for all third country visitors. Spain is simply checking that you have a right to be in the EU and can support yourself while you are there. Sadly, the UK decided to leave the EU and relegate its citizens to the status of third country visitors. You are correct. This doesn't just impact the UK. It impacts all visitors from non-EU or EEA countries. However, they've all been used to it for ages. It's just that Britons were used to being treated as EU citizens and are now seeing a lost benefit of EU membership that many were oblivious to or took for granted.

Indeed. Again it's tedious the need to prove financial means when entering Schengen was a check that was known about prior to the referendum, but was ignored/played down/called Project Fear by the Brexiteers. About time the UK put aside it's exceptionalism and got used being third status country it so wanted.
