You think it's going well for Northern Ireland?????? You're not following this very closely, are you? The whole thing is simmering and in danger of boiling over bringing everything down. You've said some daft things but that's the daftest!

You need to have a word with @Haydn , he posted it……

Personally I’m really pleased for NI, I always said they would do ok. In terms of the rest of us I would ask who has lost out. Some on here are involved in import/export and obviously it is more difficult, but no more difficult than they were doing with the rest of the world. So let’s be honest here, who has lost out. Bruce will tell us about travelling within the EU, but what about the rest of you. All you Remainers , just list how it has affected you personally, don’t tell me about the big world, how has it affected you…
Your first sentence....? You use one stat about economic output to prove that you always new that NI would do ok. You should put it on the side of a bus!

Everything will be grand then and the Good Friday Agreement won't need to be renegotiated.

Higher prices, sparser shelves, fruit & veg less fresh, other that the largest companies it is extremely difficult to get online deliveries (usually don't do it, if they do, anything up to £30 onto the price), nursing homes crying out for staff and that's before we start on the brewing political trouble. Please, in the spirit of reciprocation, tell me how Brexit (which NI did not vote for) has benefitted me.

Bloody hell Pete, if only just one of our midfielders could swerve a tackle quite so easily :)

The stats I posted showing how poorly the UK was performing economically compared to other countries, were in response to your suggestion that the current employment figures represented a Brexit success.

It is clearly far too complex a situation for any single metric to be used to determine success or failure.

The direct Brexit impacts affecting Northern Ireland will be largely invisible to us over here, as we only hear anything in the media when things go pear shaped.

Responsible political leaders would recognise the potential negative outcomes of any negotiations for (all) their citizens and ensure those outcomes were avoided in any deal agreed.

Intelligent politicians would not have campaigned for an outcome that would inevitably create such problems.

The lost economic output has had a direct impact on Government tax receipts, so we all now pay more in tax to make up the shortfall.

You know what, I am not clever enough to understand all the trade deals and explain them in detail, I will leave that up to others but when you read the simplified versions it doesn't look good. Why shouldn't people talk about the big world and how it affects other people. A very selfish attitude to just focus on yourself all the time.

I would ask, what is the point of Brexit, seriously, what was the point? It was only going to create problems, there was no way that this government, especially, was going to do anything good.

I will, however, comment on my own situation. It caused some initial anxiety that Germany were going to chuck us out. Luckily Germany is a welcoming country, they want workers in the country, simple as. My registration for residency was painless, slow because of Covid but painless.

That does not stop me from worrying about the bigger picture, just because I have come out of it OK does not stop me from having a heart and thinking about the people who it is going to affect and I repeat, why, what was the point?
