EU hold the cards. The UK have no grounds to trigger Article 16 over the European Court of Justice, and concessions in trade are being offered. So if Boris doesn't now drop the ideological clap trap, it'll be very obvious to the world where the problem lies "Brexit Britain". Vote for Boris and blame EU thick people, and that's what you are, thick!

What depresses me most about leaving the EU is the amount of money and time that's been wasted on an issue that before the announcement of the referendum only a very small % of the population actually cared about. Wealth inequality and the environment have just been pushed to one side for this absolute non-issue to be played out like a pantomime.

It was a referendum that should probably never have been called and was hubris on the part of Cameron thinking he could sort out the internal squabbles within the Tory party. Which have now spilled out to become the dominant national issue.

We’re all just along for the ride now.

Has consequences too, doesn't it?

Are you sure ? Im convinced the DM did a story yesterday about the ‘EU surrendering ‘ over border checks and sausages so I think you’ll find we’re winning this comfortably, hang your consequences.

Not just internal squabbles, UKIP were becoming a serious threat, gaining a lot of votes in council elections.
Cameron thought the referendum would be a foregone conclusion for remain, (hence the half-arsed campaign), and UKIP would have no reason to exist after the nation voted to stay in the EU.

Not sure he thought it was ‘in the bag’ but I agree he was pushed into it by Farages popularity etc. which made it a risk he felt he had to take. Perhaps a greater risk than he might have been comfortable with but felt boxed in.
